  1. how many more seasons does Beltre play - at the rate he's going this season I'd say three or maybe four.
  2. I wouldn't take him out -- I wouldn't take him out until the Halos get their next hit off him...........that might be next season......
  3. Hamels could get a rare CP at this rate. if he gets a 1-2-3 8th inning, I'd bring him out to pitch the ninth and pull him if anyone got on.
  4. we need a ten pitch at bat here........come Kaleb foul off a few........
  5. OK - IF HALOS make it -- who starts the ONE GAME PLAYOFF? or do we have to go with where-ever the rotation is for that game having used the number one, two guys (who are the number one and two rotation guys on this team?) to get INTO the second Wild Card spot..........
  6. geez -- some of these guy's career go south quick. not long ago, Espinosa was a starting player with the Nats and had decent stats. from that to being released from his second team in two months --- not good. I think he will get a ST invite and some team will probably place him on their 25 man roster to start the 2018 season.
  7. Congrats to Jose Mota. That being said, I don't think he's that great on the PBP side. He and Langston were hard to listen to the other night. Maybe that's because I'm used to hearing Terry Smith there and like him -- but there's a definite fall off from either Victor Rojas or Terry Smith.... that being said, Jose Mota's accomplishment is notable and deserves proper recognition for the achievement.
  8. Hey, can Trout be AL MVP and A. Simmons the team MVP ??? I think A. Simmons is a great ballplayer who does a lot of stuff that does not show up in the box score and measured in any stats.
  9. with Aaron Judge tanking from his first half numbers and Trout coming back from his injury as, well, as Trout -- I'd say Trout's the front runner right now.
  10. Actually, if he is a September call up and provide some pen depth for those games when we fall behind early and big -- perhaps he can eat up some mop up innings and save some other arms for competitive games............every team can use a pen guy for that role. Salas won't be on the post-season roster and there's a few extra seats in the bullpen. and at opposing team parks he can help protect pitchers warming up at parks where the pen is down the foul line..........
  11. what;s wrong with everyone. has baseball now descending to the level of political discourse in these times? what happened to people having honest disagreements and opinions with neither side right or wrong -- just different perspectives? players can gripe a bit but there's a line and at one time everyone knew where that line was. now you have trigger hair umps who will toss a player for saying ANYTHING and you also have players (like Kinsler's example) that cross the line. at one time everyone understood their role..............managers and players who gripe : 1. If there was a legitimate rule interpretation issue gone awry; 2.) a close play that could have been called either way; 3.) an inconsistent strike zone from the home plate ump -- if it's a strike in the first inning or for one team, it's a strike in the ninth inning and for BOTH teams...... Managers and players could kick up a slight fuss and move on without getting kicked out. Sometimes the manager argued a call just to rev up his team -- other times a manager (Whitey Herzog managing St. Louis) would get toss early in the game on a getaway day before an off day to get an early start on an otherwise impossible to schedule mid-season fishing trip..... But now GEEZ -- everyone's aggreived by any argument..........folks -- that's the game..........close calls that get complained about that could go either way.......... let's get back to baseball.........
  12. Light 'er up.......... but was any one else antsy when the score was 5-1 in the ninth (after last night)..........? nice to get this win - let's win Sunday and go to 7-2 on the road trip -- and we could have easily won Friday's game and been 8-1. homeward bound..........meaningful games in August and September -- as Casey Stengel once said "who woulda thunk it?"
  13. Blarg -- now that's funny........LOL !! Perfect.
  14. that time of year - folks take some time off. I listened a bit to the radio feed........... you know, I don't want to be critical or anything -- and I like Jose Mota -- his ather, Manny Mota, was the best -- but GEEZ --Jose Mota and Langston combo on the radio feed was very hard to listen to.............. I guess I am just used to Terry Smith and I think he does a good job for us --- now I am watching the game (back on after the delay) on TV and Terry Smith is doing the PBP. Much better. Sorry, Mota- Langston were un-listenible
  15. I thought we dealt him away.......... he was only banished to SLC? It's been a while. Part of the trade for Freese......maybe we can send Bottenfield back to them for compensation (LOL !!!).
  16. well - there's that old country music tune by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys with a cover done every well by Asleep at the Wheel: "Dance with the one that brung ya (to the Ball)" Dodgers are going to win up with perhaps 115 wins, perhaps even more. Granderson and Gonzalez aren't the one's that danced to get them to the Ball........
  17. Isn't Stanton's contract pretty long and expensive? I guess we can have Pujols and Stanton in dueling rocking chairs drawing a salary fielding calls from season ticket holders as part of their 'personal services' provision of the back end of their contracts............
  18. bring him up to Anaheim for September and let him pinch run in the late innings. of course, Angels probably won't want to do that -- it would get his clock started on 'club control' issues/ time.
  19. I don't necessarily see Granderson making the post-season roster. so the Dodgers have some decisions to make -- right now - if I'm them -- I keep Bellinger at 1B and keep Adrian Gonzalez off the post-season roster. Eithier? great player when he plays - but he has not played all season -- I don't see him making the post-season roster. actually, if the Angels could swing a deal here -- Eithier would be an upgrade for us -- even as a 5th/6th OF'er/ DH and he probably would make the Halos (one game playoff) post-season roster...........not sure what we'd have that the Dodgers would want -- when is Eithier's contract up? He has/ had a decent sized contract for not having played all season.
  20. why? Granderson is in the starting line up today for Dogs vs. Tigers back at Detroit where Granderson first came up. How cheaply did they get him ? (not in terms of what they gave up -- but in terms of how much of this season's contract are the Dogs paying for the rest of the year? I assume Granderson has a pretty sizeable contract and that he's clearly a rental). Meanwhile -- Dogs fans can actually see their team on TV today on FS1 and who's doing the broadcast? The retired Dick Enberg along with Kirk Gibson -- who I think is the regular Tigers commentator this year. Enberg is doing a one game fill in gig for MARIO IMPEMBA -- I'm sure there's a few posters here who remember Mario Impemba who was second PBP/ commentator alongside Bob Starr for the Halos a few years back (like 15 now? time flies) -- then Bob Starr passed away and Impemba took over the PBP duties only to leave to head back to Detroit -- his hometown state/ area -- to work alongside ERNIE HARWELL for his final season(s).
  21. of course, I was checking the W/C standings -- KC lost, Minnesota lost, Seattle won. we were about to go a game up in the race for the second wild card.........now we're tied with KC - from one game up to tied -- one pitch.
  22. that's at least THREE WALK OFF GRAND SLAMS vs. the Halos this year........three within the past two months or less -- two of them within a week of each other. you kiddin' me?
