  1. nice catch by Cron there. am I having flashbacks -- it looks like Fernando Salas on the mound...........
  2. Baltimore team to be concerned with -- more so than the Twins. Maybin with 2 HRs -- they are playing him in CF -- how can a guy with an arm like Maybin play CF? I knew he was pretty quick a-foot but didn't realize you're conceding a base every time a fly ball is hit to even medium CF..........
  3. if we make the playoffs -- Big IF -- and then it's the ONE GAME elimination deal......... BUT IF, we make it.........I don't think any of these pen guys are on the playoff roster.......... although for a one game playoff - do you go with only two rotation guys on the roster and keep a stack full of pen guys - or is it all hands on deck and the starters may all be down in the pen. But for a longer series -- these pen guys are not on the roster.
  4. Joyce stays alive -- darned -- thought he K'd -- that's the Joyce I remember seeing in a Halos uni. down he goes, catcher tags him -- perfect - ALWAYS TAG THE BATTER - EVERY TIME. it's called 'Don't be Josh Paul"
  5. pen exhausted? Don't we have like 15 guys down there in September?
  6. another four hour game -- numerous lead changes.........use about 8 pitchers each side. if this keeps up, MLB Pace of the Game folks may propose a rule that September games go 7 innings like youth league baseball instead of nine.
  7. and that's with the expanded September call up roster.......wow -- i guess no room on the 40 man OUCH. Met members of Morin's family a few years back at a Halos Fan Fest deal - they were all from KC -- I think it was his sister and her husband and Morin's parents. Nice people. Morin's been with the Halos (back and forth from SLC) for about five years now or so.....he'll catch on elsewhere. some team will pick these guys up and stash them for their pen next year.
  8. of course it's Joyce who cuts down Trout at the plate and then hits a HR......... Geez -- remember what a bust the guy was with us???
  9. now a near inside the parker..........great. what did casey stengel say -- "Can anyone here play this game?"
  10. I'd say the pitch limit would be after the second HR ---but before the third one.......
  11. They should have brought out the BP screen............
  12. I guess the pen must be out of order for maintenance or something...........
  13. needed wins the last two games -- the team has gotten better within the last week with the new additions but doesn't mean much if you don't start getting the W's in bunches.
  14. Chavez doing well in pen role. helping with the sixth inning 'bridge' pre-set up and set up duties. that's a key component role the Halos have been missing in recent years............. hope Chavez can keep this up during the stretch run.
  15. nice game for Halos tonight from several perspectives. meanwhile , as was pointed out in very prescient post by one of you last week, the Minnesota Twins have been playing a string of games vs. the White Sox and are on a winning streak,
  16. was any one warming up in the Angels pen during the bottom of the 6th?
  17. we he start the 7th? Probably not. unless Scioscia is channeling Tommy Lasorda-- which I don't think Scioscia would do. for as much as Lasorda would rant and rave about how much he loves this Dodger/ ex-Dodger player, including Scioscia -- it was Lasorda who back-stabbed Scoiscia and derailed his advancement in the Dodgers organization..............and it wasn't necessarily the way Lasorda really felt about the situation/ Scioscia, Lasorda was kissing up to the then -ownership of the team --oh well, enough of that.
  18. pen on to pitch next? anyone check David Hernandez's stats with AZ since he went over there............oh well. 3 K's -- last hitter for Heaney tonight?
  19. good outing for Heaney so far....... geez- can he remain healthy? any timetable on when Garrett RIchards might one day pitch again?
  20. Hamilton stuff again? Still ? That nightmare contract and fiasco is over. As for Arte -- my take is that Arte knows he made a huge, dumb mistake that was all his call --- he set aside any misgivings and his own instincts to sign Hamilton to that ridiculously long and expensive contract and went everything went sour, Arte knew he had no one to blame but himself. Arte being the self-made business guy he is, when he gets upset with himself -- well, he probably gets really upset with that guy in the mirror........... so cut the losses and get the guy out of my sight may have been his order at that point. Can't blame him for that. Can blame him for signing a guy with substance abuse/ addition history to a long term contract........for those guys (well, don't sign 'em Number One, but if you do......) you need those NBA like 10 day contracts. and if MLB won't do that, a one term deal with incentives and a conduct clause........ oh well - that's history -- onward.
  21. swung at ball three to make the first two outs.
  22. if Albert gets on here -- BB or otherwise -- do you PR for him? oh well - academic now - GIDP.
