  1. Salazar's ERA the last 30 games is something like 6.50 - so there is hope here.
  2. sweepers tomorrow? oh well, hey folks -- a month plus ago we all thought all the games in August and September would be meaningless play out the string time.
  3. if Phllips gets a base hit here they might hold the ball in the OF, let him take second, walk Trout and end the game on a GIDP.
  4. swung at what looked like ball three. close though -- and now out.
  5. here's where the playoff teams come up big and the other folks go home.
  6. Graterol spot up first -- who do we have to PH -- Eric Young Jr.? Some one else.? Perez is up so we have a third catcher if needed for extras.
  7. Pennington is our upgrade on D over Valnuena -- and that he is but GEEZ, that bar is low. hey, Pennington, that's Simmons at SS. when the ball is hit that way, STAY OUT THE WAY
  8. Parker back out there? see, this is where we just don't have the horses.....pen depth.
  9. can our pen get a shut down inning in the ninth to keep this a one run game? If I were in Vegas, I'd be tempted to go to the window and put money down on "NO"
  10. you guys all know this team (our Halos) are going to play poorly, have lousy starts, bad pen and scrap back to make games close the rest of the way. they're going to tease us right to the end and wind up a game out of the second Wild Card and lose it the last day or two of the season in a game they had the lead and should have won but for our pen. Just Watch. won't matter much, Houston/ Cleveland going to make it the ALCS for a classic match up. Probably won by Cleveland in six or seven.
  11. after our pen could NOT give us a shut down inning.......
  12. Of course........solo shot. after our pen could give us a shut down inning.
  13. I don't know what he (Perez) did, but seem to recall Perez made some miscue, mental/ physical behind the plate. Scioscia was griping about it and all of sudden, Perez was suddenly a starting catcher -- in Salt Lake City.
  14. when has Mike S. ever put a catcher in the dog house? Not sure, but you might ask Mike Napoli that question.
  15. Not only has Perez been in Mike's dog house all season, the dog house was located in SLC for most of the season. Perez has about 15 games with the Halos this year, if that. Graterol has played about 30 or 40 games and Maldonado has played something like 130/ 140. Maldonado has 14 HRs - has shown some pop and actually hit better than expected earlier in the season. Now it's the dog days (speaking of dog houses) for especially catchers and his offense has tailed off significantly the second half. As for Perez, he did something behind the plate that Mike S. didn't like back in April and was on the next plane to SLC not be seen again until September -- he may have been called up when Maldonado or Graterol were on the DL for a short stint.........but thinking back -- I knew Perez was in real trouble (dog house trouble) when I think one of our catchers went on the DL, and the Halos called up the guy from AA instead of Perez. Think I got that right.
  16. liked the way Upton hustled down the line there...... with Pujols, the infielder can back up on the ball, not field it cleanly, have to pick it up off the ground and still get Pujols by a wide margin limping down the line.
  17. base hit here ties it. let's go. but then our pen has to take the mound............
  18. thought a good throw there would have gotten Phillips. not exactly a line drive rocket shot but we'll take it.
  19. I can't remember -- did we just not re-sign Smith? Where did he go? He got banished to Toronto or something. geez - now after we praise the Indians team, a little league game breaks out.
