  1. was at Saturday night's game. beautiful Anaheim weather night for baseball. Could not have been nicer. Middleton was awesome, great four out save which the Halos needed. Richards - or 'ace' struck out 11 in six innings........the box score stats look pretty good. But i was at the game -- Richards did not exactly dominate the Giants. At one point I think he was one pitch away (fifth inning I think) from being pulled --- he went full count to Hundley the Giants catcher for the night (instead of Posey who was said to have a hamstring issue -- but Posey caught today - Sunday - so not sure - I would have pinch hit Posey for Hundley with one out in the ninth inning -- instead, Posey was left in the on deck circle after Hundley and Panik made the last two outs of the game). I was at the game - with great seats in the Club section just to the third base side of the plate - right to the left of press box row. Middleton looked good on the mound. Johnson, looked surprisingly good. Richards? Despite the strike out totals looked like he was struggling most of the game -- high pitch count (which comes with the strikeouts) but I am convinced pitchers on both sides benefited from Country Joe West (home plate umpire Saturday night) high and outside strike calls........a lot of hitters (both teams) walked away frustrated and shaking their heads at County Joe West -- in addition, Country Joe has a habit of making sort of delayed call on that high /outside strike three pitch...........
  2. It's ON -- Golden Knights - Kings -- I think we're in for a 7 game war all three periods (perhaps plus) for the entire series.
  3. yeah - Fletch is great and great to us here. much thanks. for him - it's gotta be great to be right in the middle, front and center, covering the biggest story in MLB in decades........plus a guy named Trout, too and Pujols chase for 3,000 hits to go with 616 HRs !! Lot of stuff going on............
  4. Ohtani is something. Please forget I even thought that a short stint at AA or AAA ball to start the season would be a way to ease him into MLB..... geez. he can't keep this up, I don't think -- but he's an MLB ballplayer for sure.
  5. gotta believe MLB will be broadcasting much of the game and will cut in on the Angels telecast to show Ohtani's second start. International interest and nationwide interest in his second start and first home start.
  6. OK -- OK looks like he's turned it around and is season ready. actually the slow start thing in Arizona ST was a mis-direction ploy by Ohtani.
  7. great game for the Halos -- hope the pen can hold a nine run lead. for the Angels - I think holding a nine run lead counts as a save. Or should. anyway. great game for the Halos tonight. Ohtani HR's first AB at Angels Stadium - the rest of the team -- including Upton get off the shnide at the plate and - oh yeah. -- that other guy - best player in baseball goes yard as well..........the start is a quality one for RIchards -- one mistake. one hit, two runs but more importantly -- after that Richards shakes it off and settles down for a quality start. and - one more aspect of this great game for the Halos -- it comes against Cleveland -- a team I thought had a good shot at sweeping us this series.......
  8. appreciate the run down on the improved food and food options. assume the old stand by classics will still be there -- wish they could duplicate the brats product the private vendors sell outside at Safeco Field in Seattle. That plus perhaps a better quality of peanuts and quicker service of mixed drinks and tap beer........especially in the premium 300 section -- i think they call them the MVP Box or something. The in-seat service seats. Going to the SF Giants/ Angels game April 21 at the Big A and will check it all out then. Meanwhile, Dave -- thanks for the comprehensive report.
  9. and Ohtani seems to be a person of few words -- in any language........
  10. mid-game -- geez -- typo city here. I guess I can blame it on spell check -- some times.
  11. fine to have as a 5-A player at SLC. we're going to have a need for pinch runners this year with the 1b/DH types on the team and then there's the Ohtani factor which means that these DH/1B types (Pujols/ Valbuena etc.) will be playing the field more this year. mod-game base hit/ double ? --- pinch runner.
  12. Not good news. a healthy Kinsler really helps our team. Valbuena at 3B today -- that sort of scares me. it's called ground ball doubles past third.
  13. Joyce now responsible for more Angels wins than when he was actually on our roster..........
  14. Good Friday INDEED. Notre Dame women beat UCONN to get the NCAA championship game. Does this mean Loyola of Chicago beats Michigan tomorrow??? Sister Act.
  15. well, I consider the Kings picking up a point tonight (at the Honda Center in Anaheim) in the second of back to back games - sort of a win. Kings got out-played most of the night - almost came away with a win and got a point in the standings - three games left for Kings., 4 for the Ducks.
  16. and player of the game?? Tyler Skaggs. A great start of hopefully more quality starts to come.
  17. LIGHT UP THAT HALO ! TROUT HOMERS! CALHOUN STAYS HOT WITH THE BAT !! Parker saves game Rodney style.
  18. what is that change up blooper type pitch he has? looks awful
  19. Matt Joyce up. they caledl his fielding play an error - but last night it was a triple (Upton's play).
  20. two down K's out number two. let's get the next one and move to .500 on the season.
  21. Parker was pretty solid last year. Perhaps he took some off-seasons lessons from Fernando Rodney.
  22. if they scored that Upton non-catch as a triple last night -- he just hit a double tonight
  23. Upton at second. good news. Pujols can't hit into a GIDP
