  1. I used to like Olberman when he did local news on KTLA -- but over the years his record and attitude (as pointed out in a post above -- why would anyone hire this guy who has a limited shelf life with every job he's had in the last 20 years and then turns on his former employer almost every time in a bitter departure) have really over-taken whatever talent he may have had as a sports guy -- and then there was his rantings over at MSNBC or where-ever he was....... Also, folks who used to work with and around him tend to view him as a total self-centered jerk.......... note his funnies a the end of each of these pre- and post- game shows -- they're all about Olberman. the panel of folks he has with him is pretty weak.......probably selected by Olberman himself with choices that wouldn't 'out-shine' him..........if that's the case, he picked well.
  2. my prior post makes it sound as if I don't like Charles Barkley because I mention him in the same context with Olberman. that's not the case. my point is, Barkley is a huge hit on the post-game NBA show and even better during the playoffs.......... I'd rather TBS use those guys than any combo with Olberman included. as for Barkley, I remember one Monday night coming home and Monday Night Football was on, I was half listening while doing other stuff and I thought, hey, that sounds like King Charles.......can't be, it's football for Pete's sake.......the guy sounded good, knowledgeable, funny etc. It was Charles Barkley -- I thought he was pretty good as part of a football telecast!! Barkley is to NBA telecasts sort of what Dandy Don Meredith was to Monday Night Football for those who can remember back that far.......
  3. well, it's hard to say anything snotty about the Rangers since they just swept us and what was our record against Texas this year??? something like 4-15. they whupped our tails but good.
  4. Oh, please no. It's TBS, I'd rather bring Charles Barkley in rather than have Kieth Olberman back pontificating to everyone......... Sounds like it's going to be another post-season with the mute button on.
  5. hey, these trade proposals are great........very realistic -- their best guy for our cast offs......yeah, let's do it.......
  6. Link doesn't work -- the story is on the ESPN College Football page.......
  7. James Street, former Texas Longhorns QB in 1968-70 passed away suddenly at age 65 in Austin, Texas. Street was the father of SD Padres (and former Colorado Rockies closer) Huston Street. James Street ran a national financial firm based in Austin. Here's a link that I hope works: http://espn.go,com/college-football/story/_/id/9747869/former-texas-longhorns-qb-james-street-65-dies R.I.P. James Street.
  8. Texas OUT. Well, at least they didn't have to travel for this game........
  9. perfect..........Nelson Cruz poised to make the last out...........great.
  10. SigBaby -- I like your trade........any Halos fan would.........Aybar for Cozart AND Leake??
  11. No one wants Blanton. We have him signed through 2014. I think he fits in well as long relief guy/ sort of a sixth starter.........AT Salt Lake City.
  12. Why couldn't the Halos have one just one of the four games to avoid what we're seeing tonight...........all so unnecessary.......... The winner of tonight's game is Cleveland.........they probably want Texas to tie this up and have the game go 15 innings........
  13. I don't understand this --- out for the season but in for the playoffs? I think if a guy is on the suspended list Sept. 1 or later, he shouldn't be eligible for the post-season roster.
  14. Good thing they didn't fly into LAX............Lane Kiffin didn't even make it out of the airport. Was that Arte meeting with Pat Haden today????
  15. In response to the question in the post above -- essentially, 'is this the biggest disappointing Halos season in terms of differential in expectations and final standings?" I'd say YES. Obviously, there have been arguably more disappointing 'events' the 1982 one pitch away Donnie Moore ultimate tragedy vs. Milwaukee which cost the Cowboy his best chance of seeing his Halos in the World Series, the 1995 total collapse from 10 games up to having to battle back to force a one game playoff to Seattle (at the Kingdome) which we lost miserably........can still remember the wild throw (was in Langston?) down the right field line........... And the Halos have had season records far worse than this year, but I don't think any prior Halos team has come into Spring Training with such high expectations and then responded with such disappointment that set in pretty much right from Game One of the season..........to be about 10 games out and almost ten games under .500 in mid-May is just unacceptable. It's the second year in a row that the Halos have dug themselves such a hole by mid-May that renders them pretty much a non-contender all season long..........something has to change.
  16. Scioscia comments on now........it's taped.........don't think it's post-game comments. tough questioning, too "You guys really turned it around, hottest team in baseball in August-September....." yeah, great. how about more like, 'you guys seem to be able to play better when the games are meaningless.........why is that?"
  17. we were something like 4-15 against Texas this year??????? OUCH.
  18. WOW -- the Tampa Bay/ Texas game is tomorrow -- thought it was Tuesday -- that's a quick turn around. Madden must really be cursing the Halos as he and the entire team pack up tonight for the flight to Texas........probably a red eye flight tonight.
  19. That's a wrap........ Sort of like fish wrap - well smells the same......... so long 2013 Halos season..........2014 cannot possibly be worse, can it?
  20. Sweepers......... Tampa Bay vs. Texas on Tuesday. Two one game series for the winner of Tuesday's game.
  21. what was that Hamilton waving the cap stuff? why incite these folks ? geez..........
  22. Season theme -- question asked earlier...... "ANGELS, PAINFUL TO WATCH RIGHT TO THE FINAL OUT"
  23. Bring in Blanton , that's the fitting way to end 2013 season............
  24. oh for geez sakes..........this is more than a terrible way to end the season.........and all of baseball and MLB fans are watching........ well, anyone still watching just switched to NFL games now.
