  1. makes a lot of sense.......Santiago probably should have started the season in the rotation at SLC. this gives him a chance to pitch every fifth day with less pressure. when we got Santiago he was really a swing man, long relief/ spot starts-- placing him a rotation spot was problematic but we didn't have anyone else.
  2. I think the system works fine........if guys are going to ask too much, teams are going to think long and hard before losing a draft pick...... meanwhile, good pick up by the Red Sox.........am surprised M's were not interested........they need an SS.
  3. well, the BBQ apron is designed to be worn while LISTENING to the radio broadcasts........
  4. I've heard of 4-A type players before but seems like these guys are vying for a spot on the Single-Ear roster......
  5. Next Saturday night, the post game feature is a Mike Tyson vs. Miguel Olivo fight...... the Kids Day aspect of this is both sad and pretty hilarious at the same time..... where are these guys playing LA or Albuquerque?
  6. I think the BBQ apron is a good give away -- something practical that can be used...... now about that Dodger logo on it........I guess you can wear it backwards......
  7. it's not a shut out -- if we could have kept Keuchel's pitch count higher we could have gotten to the pen earlier....... gotta feel kinda bad for Keuchel -- pitches a gem, deserves a shutout and has to see there and watch the pen blow his shut out.
  8. geez -- we gotta beat Houston at HOME -- we've gotta win this series and right now it looks like we're not any closer to our hitters figuring Kuechel out so we need WINS Tuesday and Wednesday. If we are to be competitive in the AL West we have to beat up on Houston........A's went something like 15-3 against them last year and Texas may have been 14-4.......the Halos, on the other hand, LOST the season series to the LASTROS.......who were LASTROS for every team but the Angels last season........and now we're down 5-zip..... now the game is officially over, Hector Santiago in his new role -- mop up relief.
  9. as for Victor harping on that play -- would rather have that than a homer not being at all critical...... remember REX -- his call would have been "nice try there by Green, he's just adjusting to playing LF and is really doing great out there........"
  10. Well, Green hasn't played much LF -- saw him make a great play out there -- but the instinctive stuff that good OF'ers have with respect to reading the ball off the bat -- Green doesn't have it......he hasn't played out there enough.........oh well. Still think Green can help the club with his versatility. Cron- Billy Butler -- I'll check the height and weight chart --- could be wrong -- but Butler seems a bit pudgier than Cron. Cron really drives the ball.......rips line drives.
  11. Well, has Cron been awful down there? I think he's been OK. He's not Mark Teixeria down there but he's not Raul Ibanez either -- and Ibanez has been able to play some innings there.....not great but OK.
  12. I thought Grant Green should have been on the 25 man roster out of ST -- since then his versatility has increased with his ability to play a decent LF -- I was at the game when he made that great catch out there about three weeks ago now........ Ian Stewart is versatile, had a good ST and then had a good start for the Halos in April sort of working into a platoon with Freese at 3B when Freese's defense and slow footed running (and slow start of the season at the plate)...........but now Stewart's in the 'what have you done for us lately' situation (not much); Freese on DL, his defense and base running hasn't gotten much better but his bat seems to have woken up a bit...... so I think Green stays, Ian Stewart gets DFA's having lasted longer than I thought he would when he was in ST as a non-roster guy. Calhoun, Hamilton headed back -- someone is going to be the odd person out -- I see Navarro being sent back down -- that's a fairly easy call. the sort of tougher call is whether keeping Grant Green is whether we still need John McDonald -- and it's not Green's spot in jeopardy (DFAing Stewart opens the spot for Green) but Cron's spot. Cron may be the odd man out (if the Angels decide to keep Raul Ibanez) because I think not only does McDonald stay -- but he should........if Freese is going to play 3B at all, I think we need McDonald (and Green) to spell him in the 6th/7th inning of almost every game........Freese should also get some DH time but with Pujols, Hamilton and Ibanez all DH types, that might be a tough. So, bottom line, Cron probably gets shipped out to get playing time and it's going to be real difficult to explain why a guy who plays pretty well at 1B and has just a great swing, is being sent out. Cron seems to be hitting line drives every time he's at the plate.
  13. heading into the second half of the season soon -- you're really going to want McDonald's veteran experience over Jimenez........ and McDonald has, as has been mentioned, been stellar on D at 3B/SS and can play 2B as well. And he's actually hit better than expected -- a bonus. Green IMO can be a great contributor to the team the rest of the season -- and Cron gives the Halos some real pop -- geez, Cron has a great swing and just seems to smack line drives......
  14. Thomas Crow -- thanks for posting that You Tube video of Selanne going through the post-series handshake line -- that's just great.....didn't get the audio as well on the actual broadcast. Quick and several of the Kings each said 'it's been a honor" to play against you........class act stuff.......this is what makes hockey and the NHL such a great game, such a great sport....... thanks for posting the video!
  15. I think McDonald stays -- he's contributed -- is gold on defense and is part of the positive chemistry........ not so sure about Ibanez........I agree with prior posts -- add him to the coaching staff or something....... Cron vs. Ibanez seems like a no-brainer to me and it appears that's what we'll get -- there will be no brains making this decision -- Ibanez stays. Cron gets sent out.
  16. Kings played well second half of the second period........but GEEZ -- Chicago defense is tough in the attacking zone -- Kings seemed to be playing in Chicago's end of the ice but didn't get many chances because of the Blackhawk D........ good game, third period's gonna be a war.
  17. Blackhawks are not defending Stanley Cup champs for nothing -- good first period for them...........they have a great coach, too -- although I like our guy better (former Blackhawk!). Gaborick has been huge.......Kings need to keep him for the longer term. This series is gonna be a war -- all the 'pundits' say Blackhawks win it in 6 or 7. Great -- that's where we want to be........we need a split in Chicago for first two games -- when's the last time we beat Chicago in a regular season game?? It's been a while.
  18. I think Green should have made the 25 man roster out of Spring Training -- and I would have kept him instead of Ian Stewart -- but Ian Stewart played well during ST and then did well in the early season for us before tailing off lately......I'd pick Green over Stewart now - at this point......I think Green has been proven to be what some of us indicated he would be out of ST -- very versatile -- more so because he can also play a decent LF in addition to the corners and MIF spots.....he's hitting, too -- an added bonus. CJ Cron -- tough call here -- nothing the guy has done up with the Halos suggests he should be sent back down -- the question remains -- would be get sufficient playing time on the big club? I think between DH and 1B he would..........I would keep him and DFA Ibanez..........not sure if that will be the move, though. Navarro -- has played well during is stint up with the big club but needs more time in the minors and needs to play every day. Easy call to send him back down. Jimenez -- can't keep Green and Jimenez -- I'd keep Green........the real question is -- are the Halos ready to say the Freese deal was a mistake and keep Green up in that Freese spot which then opens up the Stewart spot for Jimenez......Jimenez another guy who needs to play everyday, though, and won't do that this year in Anaheim.......anyway, no way Halos front office waives DFA/ white flag on Freese.......who is worse on D than advertised (and wasn't advertised as much) and his base runner skills earn him the moniker : Mr. GIDP. The deal wasn't bad for a flyer and Bourjos wasn't going to play much in Anaheim this year anyway - pluse we got Salas, pen help that we needed........I don't know, my take is Freese is a flop and I'd call it now........but Halos won't. That's OK.
  19. Ducks had a great season -- they lost in 7 games to a very tough Kings team and had a rookie goalie in goal for a Cup playoff series....... Fire the coach? I wouldn't.
  20. this was a great series for S. Cal. hockey....... of course I'm loving the result -- it's too bad Game 7 was so anti-climatic but quite frankly, after SIX elimination games so far in the Cup playoffs this year, the Kings fans could use a breather of a game. Nice tribute to Selanne at the end there........ Now the big question - if the Ducks won tonight, I would have been rooting for the Ducks to win the Cup -- Ducks fans?? Are you with the Kings all the way now??
