  1. Fraizer to put up Puig like numbers in the final round?
  2. What happened to Stanton? LOL!!!
  3. does this Gallego guy pitch for the Texas Rangers???????
  4. not quite the Josh Hamilton display of a few years ago but pretty good --- but then Hamilton didn't win it after his awesome display of power.......
  5. rain's coming. come on Selig -- call it off and call this thing a tie........
  6. well, I do think this derby stuff messes with their timing and swing........ stats of the guys who win it in the past sort of prove it (with the exception of Cespedes, apparently).
  7. FINAL is going to be (or should be): 1. Cespedes 2. Bautista 3. Adam Jones 5. Todd Fraizer
  8. watching these guys makes me real pleased that Trout is not in the mix..... looks like this stuff really messes with a hitter's swing and timing.....
  9. who votes to go back to the old format ?? The Ayes have it......
  10. ah, give Jeetz his due. good for him. good for MLB. ought to be a great tribute to his great career. can't understand why folks don't like Jeetz.......he plays the game the way it ought to be played and always has.
  11. anti-Sally Field LOL!! Eleven -- what might be even more LOL! is that about half the posters won't get the reference........
  12. Most players are primed for a three day/ four day ASG break -- so they get the ESPN evening game -- bad news. that is topped by worse news -- a RAIN DELAY -- guys sitting around the clubhouse wanting to be anywhere else than waiting around........ what a nightmare for the players........
  13. Rodney in, Richards snubbed.........now that's a real snub for Halos fans.......someone in charge really doesn't like us.........
  14. I have seldom seen such a player/manager feud played out so publicly and then last beyond the player's time with the team as with the Scioscia/Napoli carping back and forth. Had to be have been some personal stuff in the clubhouse between the two after Scioscia didn't give him playing time either behind the plate or at DH. meanwhile, whether it's Napoli or just his player type -- I've always felt an AL team should carry a Napoli type player on the roster -- a guy that can be your 3rd string catcher in a pinch, can DH, even play some 1B and has some pop in the bat......... meanwhile, since we're mentioning Naps it's only right we also bring up Jeff Mathis -- saw an MLB highlight where Mathis was blocking the plate, took a great throw from the OF and tagged the runner out -- the runner was called SAFE and the run scored under the NEW (I call it the 'Buster Posey" Rule) rules which prohibits catchers from blocking the plate. Where's Mathis these days? playing for Pittsburgh? anyway, the play I saw was a great throw from the OF and Mathis played it perfectly at the plate, his leg knocking the runner's slide off the plate -- but that's a NO NO these days. I really don't like the new rule.........perhaps we can get the runners flags on their belts like flag football or two hand touch below the waist.......... Hockey and Rodeo are the only real sports left............
  15. not only did he call it -- the post thread details and proves the timing....... good call. geez - the Rangers -- have they sunk so far in such a short time.........OUCH. No more Nolan Ryan in the Front Office and now he's affiliated with the Astros and even they are ahead of Texas. Double OUCH.
  16. Cron seems to be able to really hit -- let's see if that keeps up with the second swing around the league...... meanwhile, prior post is correct -- Cron's best defensive position is DH.
  17. yeah, en fuego is right -- actually, I don't like the All Star Break --- we're rolling right now -- don't want to see anything break the momentum.
  18. I really like the way Cron swings the bat -- the guy hits line drives by the dozen. hopefully he can keep doing that and it's not just a first time through the league thing until the opposition figures out how to pitch him.
  19. Trout clears the bases....... what a terrible display of outfield play there by Texas -- the hesitation / double pump or whatever if was that allowed the third run to score ---- GEEZ -- what's the first thing your coach taught any of us in youth baseball -- 'when you're paying the OF, get the ball back in quickly/NOW!" and "don't hold the ball in the outfield" apparently the Rangers missed those little league drills........ I know the Angels scored threes runs and now lead 3 to 1 and Trout gets three RBI's and all -- but I can' stand to see this stuff by MLB outfielders...... just illustrates how today's players just don't have the fundamentals down -- can't stand to see this kind of stuff......
  20. well, I am glad he at least got to play in KC and receive a nice ovation from the crowd upon his 'return' to KC -- had some good numbers for KC during his time there -- and then he hit what may be his final MLB HR there......so that short stint in KC well worth it........better than the way he went out in Anaheim. He's probably done. I always like Ibanez -- seemed to always play hard and put up some very good numbers for a few different teams. good clubhouse guy and all around good guy it seems. wish him well whatever is in store for him next........
  21. I always liked Bourjos --it's a shame that he got off to a slow start in St. Louis and then was hurt or something. He always hustled and did his best for us. I root for the guy to do well. Cards in real trouble right now with Yadier out 8 to 13 weeks -- he's carried the Cards team......tough loss for them.
  22. He can probably help them.......... was not a big fan of Jerome Williams as a guy for our rotation -- but, after some rough spots, Jerome Williams settled down for us and did pretty much what the Halos asked of him in several roles, sometimes rotation guy, spot starter, long relief guy and even some set up stuff........ he had some good starts for us. and I always got the impression that Jerome Williams was working his tail off to the best of his ability to stay on the roster........ I agreed with the Halos decision to let him go, but he's a former Halo I tend to root for and hope he does well.
  23. Kershaw may be the best pitcher in MLB right now.
  24. Chase Headley hit a HR off Kershaw in the 6th inning of tonight's Padres-Dogs game at the Ravine. think there was two outs in the 6th when he hit it -- so the steak was 41.2 IP Good scoreless string for Kershaw.
