  1. My dad was very involved in sports with me growing up, so he almost always called me by my first name during games or matches. Son would have been inappropriate. My mom would call me son from the stands. It was the exact opposite when we got home.
  2. Why would she light a Yoohoo on fire? Ohhhhh. Hoohoo. That IS amazing.
  3. I was going to put this in the Dead Celebrities thread but this is OK. He was hilarious in his appearances on Letterman. Cant believe he was 76 though. Damn I’m getting old.
  4. You must never go to a bar that has Karaoke @The Ghost of Bob Starr. Except for One by U2, the other 3 have to be the most awfully sung songs in every Karaoke place. Not that I don’t agree with your opinion, though.
  5. Every f*cking Angels game for years my wife and I attended. This is spot on @T.G.
  6. Used to work right down the street from that McDonald’s on Rosemead Blvd in South El Monte. Never ate there though. Far too dangerous……
  7. I know Jason. Just busting your balls a bit. It’s early in the season.
  8. Slightly off topic, but some guy named Ohtani for the Dodgers hit a home run today.
  9. I’m looking for Griffin Canning to have a breakout year this season. Just needs to stay healthy.
  10. The Red Onion in Huntington Beach. Saw many Monday Night football games there and a few barroom brawls there also. Bad part was it was always a place where the Huntington Beach PD hung out in the parking lot waiting to bust people.
  11. @StradlingI’m on board with this point of view. In my opinion, this is a majority opinion of most “true” Angels fans. The funny thing about fan forums (like I need to tell you about fan forums) is that when a person takes a contrarian view, even if it’s slight, you make yourself a target. Truth is the Angels lost their argumentatively best player in the off season, and as fans, we want them to make the playoffs as a minimum. Truth is, it probably won’t happen but who knows? If the Angels make a 10 game improvement like you stated, that is a step in the right direction. I can live with that in a post-Ohtani world. Most have written this team off. My point is, like you stated, improving isn’t always huge steps, but if this team can show it’s going in the right direction this season, as our young players develop, maybe we can get this ship going the right direction.
  12. 1.7% of Angels fans chose Anthony Rendon as their favorite Angels player NOT named Mike Trout. I’d add them to the list of people who need to be drug tested as well.
  13. Yeah thank God. That’s makes it all OK when you put it that context, I suppose.
  14. I completely agree @gotbeer. I was actually on this fire with my LA County strike team and what the story fails to mention was that this US Forest Hotshot crew was based out of Big Bear, and one of the members of the crew who was supposed to be the Safety Spotter for the backfiring operation either fell asleep or just wasn’t paying attention to the operation that killed his Supervisor. After the fatality, the young Hotshot crew member blamed himself for getting his leader killed and ultimately took his own life (it’s assumed he did since he disappeared and has not been seen for years). So in reality, the stupidity of these individuals didn’t just kill one person, it ultimately resulted in 2 deaths, but they would never be able to make that charge stick. Damn shame, the young firefighter who took his life was only 22 and a Big Bear kid.
  15. This above post aged well. Since this post, we have received about 20”-22” inches and it’s still coming down. I actually love it, because we need and it’s the life blood of Big Bear. I also included a picture of Jackie, Big Bear’s famous bald eagle as she protects her 3 (yes, 3 this time) eggs from the elements.
  16. I’m watching the local news, and they have been predicting “massive” amounts of snow above the 6500’ foot level in the mountains. I can honestly say that we have been getting some snow (my house is at 7200’ feet) but right now it’s 35 degrees and we are getting massive rain, which is causing a huge melt off of the snow we got the last two days. Thats going to be a huge problem really soon for the roadways leading into the mountains with rockslides and washed out roads. I’ve stocked up on beer and scotch. You know, just in case.
  17. Boy oh boy if Tony Finau or the X man could have done ANYTHING with their putters today, either one could have one this Farmers Insurance tournament easily. Both putted like dogshit. Especially Xander, who after the first hole, didn’t make a single putt over 4 feet. Brutal
  18. He got 57 votes, roughly 14%. He wasn’t even close again. It’s sort of ridiculous that a guy like Chase Utley got more than double the percentage that Abreu did at 28%. Complete nonsense.
  19. Bear Mountain bought it years ago @Tankand last year, Big Bear Mountain resort also bought Snow Valley, so BBMR runs all 3 resorts on the mountain. Altierra oversees operations of BBMR. Goldmine was where I learned to ski 45 years ago.
  20. It was a 100 million dollar dick move by the NFL. Countless people couldn’t and didn’t watch the game because, like my father in law, doesn’t have WiFi in his house, or other simply didn’t because of principle. NBC and the NFL should be embarrassed
