  1. I was watching the game at The Tilted Kilt last night with a few Angel fans, but the sound was off so none of us knew what was going on. We all thought the reason Ausmus didn't challenge was because he was out of challenges. I mean this could have been the only answer, right? But nothing, and I mean nothing, prepared us for the pinch hitting move in the 9th. You should have heard the Angel crowd at the Kilt. People were PISSED and rightfully so. It's been roughly 18 hours, and a Bour assignment to AAA, but I'm still pissed. And the more I catch up and read everybody's comments, it's not making me feel any less pissed. Unexcusable managing decision.
  2. Ausmus challenges as much as he uses the Hit and Run. Never
  3. Came in just in time to see Cron make one of the most ridiculous plays I've seen in a while. Too bad the Angels couldn't make that hurt
  4. Wow. It looks like this Astudillo guy likes to eat PBJ's in between innings also, among other snacks. Jeez. Bartolo colon's doppleganger.
  5. I used to think he was just being crossed up because a catcher is never taught to backhand or "stab" at the pitch, which Lucroy does a lot. Now I'm starting to think like you Lou.
  6. Lucroy has got to lead the league in passed balls this year.
  7. It's normal. I watch Calhoun and Trout do it every home game
  8. Leave it to Gubie and Victor to beat this "Tommy Boy" thing right into the ground. Holy crap
  9. I absolutely can't wait to watch this guy play in the bigs. I saw him at spring training, and was bummed when he went down with the injury. Kid is a stud
  10. I don't think that Cozart is that great of a defender, especially at third base. I understand he's normally a SS, but his throws across the diamond leave me chewing my nails. I do understand the thought of keeping him as a potential pinch runner, but he's certainly not a viable candidate for pinch hitting duties. Hell, I was nervous when he came in last night as a late inning defensive replacement. He's basically a dead man walking and it's just a matter of time before he's DFA'd. Cut bait and move on, like you said
  11. I think that's what Ausmus was saying in regards to Simmons and his hitting into so many DP's. As mentioned by another poster, he hits a lot of ground balls and most of them are hit hard, making it easy to turn double plays. As for Skaggs, who knows? His pitch count was high again in the early innings, which has been normal for him the last few years. And by the way, I don't like Marwin Gonzalez either. I won't say I hate him though, but it's close
  12. That is a good win against a quality baseball team. I loved how they went down 2-0 and fought back. Kudos to the bullpen for some great work. Total team effort tonight
  13. Cozart came in as a defensive replacement, so I'm not sure we had a pinch runner available. Unless you're counting Bour as a possibility.
  14. Simmons hits into his league leading 13th double play of the season. That's just crazy
  15. I do too. But, it's a move that makes a manager look like a genius if it works and is second guessed relentlessly if it fails.
  16. Bard has been pitching well lately and I also forget about him.
  17. Ty Buttrey pitching the 7th. Unless Buttrey pitches 2 innings, I'm not sure I'm going to like the way the game is going to close out. Please dear God, no Cody Allen. Please
  18. The thing about data is it can always be skewed to bolster one side of a debate. I'm not saying that's the case here, but it's true. As has been mentioned in several posts on this thread, pitching is the issue. Plain and simple. But another point that is a major issue is the Angels are 4-11 against left handed starters. That's pretty bad, and yet this seems like it's been an issue for the last several seasons. I can't figure out why it is, but boy oh boy do the Angels struggle against lefties.
  19. Hold on yk. You mean to tell me that you don't like Gubie's "Key's to the Game" where he input's a song title into it that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever? Like this little gem....."Tonight's Hyundai Key to the Game...a little "Cat Scratch Fever," baby because the Angels are gonna have to find a way to scratch out a couple runs against this lefty pitcher, ya know? good Lord, ridiculous.
