Yeah I'm definitely more of a roller coaster guy so I have that $8 / month pass for Six Flags. I think it gives you free parking as well? Magic Mountain, Discovery Kingdom, Over Texas, Great Adventure are the best ones for roller coasters, even though the quality of Six Flags has really declined over the past decade or so. I need to go back to Great Adventure, because Kingda Ka is now pretty much the only hydraulic launch coaster in the country that goes 120+ MPH at that ridiculous acceleration. Dragster is getting retrofitted so it won't be nearly as quick of a launch, and Xcelerator at Knott's has been down for over a year now (this one only goes 80+ MPH).
I had a Disneyland pass with the girl years ago right when they opened Cars Land and that was actually worth it because it was right before the parks jumped the prices way up, and started getting ridiculously crowded like it is now. I think it was $100 down then $42/month for 12 months, but there were no blackout days and we got free parking. It was nice to just go for a couple hours and get some dinner and go on a few rides for a date night, we probably went 2 or 3 times a month.
My friends practically forced me to go to Disneyland/CA Adventure during the end of September and while it was still too busy, I actually had a pretty good time. Beers at CA Adventure helped. Didn't think I'd like the re-do for the Tower of Terror to Guardians ride but it was pretty fun, and Space Mountain is pretty good. I think the best part of Rise of the Resistance was just the massive scope of the entire ride, like that room with 50 Stormtroopers was bad ass. They try to take good care of the park like they used to, but it's just not the same and I can't see myself ever wanting a pass there again.
