  1. We all know players when put in different environments (new teams) can tend to play differently. Whatever his past, I think Street is comfortable here, hence, why he's done a good job for us. I've been watching him since he came up with the A's, and while he's struggled, I always like his stuff, and his approach to batters. I think right now he's got his mojo going, so why not take advantage of that while we have it. Up to last season, our bullpen and arms that were able to close out a game were definitely mediocre, and sometimes painful to watch. Walking the leadoff batter constantly, for example, made me want to pull my hair out. I haven't seen a lot of leadoff walks from Street, and that's nice. He's also not going to get a lot of K's because he goes after batters and lets them get themselves out. If he can be so easily replaced, why has it taken this organization almost a decade to finally find a decent closer? While I'm sure there are others out there, if its not broke, why fix it? I don't have the greatest confidence in this organization when it would come to replacing him. And who knows if they'll do as good a job.
  2. I'm pretty sure its usually spur of the moment stuff or jokes that get thrown around in the clubhouse and they just kinda stick. You know, like nicknames and inside jokes.
  3. I don't think I've ever seen a celebrity smoke a cigarette, or a baseball player dipping and thought "Wow, they look so cool. I want to be like them. I'm gonna take up smoking or dipping." IMO the logic to connect what adults are doing to what youngsters want to do is completely subjective and pointless.
  4. What's hilarious is if you watch the Gameday videos Calhoun seemed to do it after his hit in the first. Then he definitely did it in he 2nd after Crons mammo. I like it.
  5. No clue. This organization eagerly gives a guy 20+ Million dollars a season to snort coke and not hit home runs, and then you want to give a runaround to the best closer we've had in a decade? For Christs sake Arte and Dipoto, get it together!
  6. Might it be based on Cron's wag after they called him out but he was actually safe? I kinda like it. Especially because me and my buddies have used a rendition of this towards ladies in the past...
  7. I don't know why there'd be any question. The guy has done nothing but solidify the 9th inning into a quick 1-2-3 inning, something we haven't had in years. I'd sign the guy until he wanted to retire and make him an Angel for the rest of his career.
  8. So we're sticking with Joyce in the 4 slot. Alright then.
  9. How will anyone ever know if he's cleaned up or his head is right? That's the problem with drug addicts, especially once they've decided to throw everything they have and love away just to do some stupid effing drugs; you'll never really know.
  10. Can you imagine how different these boards would be if Hamilton signed with another club and we were watching all this unfold from the outside? Or would this not happen on another team, as the Angels just can't seem to keep superstars on track once they put on a uniform? I imagine every other franchise in the league is so glad they dodged this bullet.
  11. LOL based off Hamiltons lack of any kind of legitamite performance on the field, I'm not sure he ever got your "carry a major league franchise to the playoffs" memo. Since when?
  12. All I had to see was the image that's shown before you push the play button, and I knew I wanted to spend zero time watching any of this. Has to be terrible.
  13. I put Sizzler in the same category I put Red Lobster. Never been to either, but am intrigued as hell to at least go once to stuff my face and see if it's as terrible as everyone says it is.
  14. "Let's hear it 714 Tickets jinglers!"
  15. Trout is the most fascinating, electric, and yet most humble, player I have ever seen play the game. 100% effort and class all the time. I am so glad he is an Angel. My dad actually calls me at random times when I'm working just to tell me about Trout coming through again. He almost can't believe how our Angels have a guy that makes a significant impact in every game he's in, and most especially how guys on the rest of the team (especially Pujols) just don't seem to take a page of advice out of his approach. We both think he is unreal, and there's really nobody else like him. The freakin' Angels better get him a ring!
  16. ^I think the scariest thing being a batter once you get out of high school is the sound of the ball once the velocity gets over 90. You can literally hear it cutting through the air as it wizzes by, and to be honest that was one of the more terrifying things for me to get over as a batter. Especially when that thing is coming within inches of your body.
  17. Does Trout flip his bat? Does Trout admire his home runs? Does Trout take a 45 second trot around the bases? If the answer to any of these questions is no, I wouldn't suggest for anyone to do it either.
  18. They aren't yet, but they should, and they will eventually. Down in the count 3-1 with 1 out, a runner on second, and Pujols on deck, why even pitch to him a that point. Next pitch, BLAMO! Over the fence. Pujols dribbler to shortstop.
  19. Not sure you can have that quality of a dinner conversation with a guy who gets up every 30 seconds for "another lap" to the lasagna buffet.
  20. Sometimes I put way too much credibility in the words of some of the more frequent posters around here. Then I see stuff like this and wonder why.
  21. I'm as big a fan of Weaver as anyone, and I don't want to take anything away from his performance, but do you think being the Astros might have something to do with it? I wasn't watching the game so I don't know. I'll feel better when I see some good pitching versus the A's or Texas.
  22. And right on cue, Calhoun makes yet another outstanding diving catch in right field to end the inning.
  23. lol so of course, the "safety" excuse was all just bullsh*t reasoning to fix something that wasn't broken. Shocking. Glad they're keeping it the same so Kenny has that uncomfortable 2 minutes in line with the concession workers while he's waiting for his wiener.
