I don't think this is necessarily true. There was some stat thrown out there by broadcasting a couple nights ago that IF Trout does swing at the first pitch, he's hitting like .350+ so he does selectively hit the first pitch.

Hard to argue with his numbers, but I can't remember ever seeing him consistently going for those out of the zone dropping sliders and also swinging through strikes. Been a couple games now he's been doing that.
