  1. From what I've read, the new posting won't take effect this offseason. Which is the reason why Tanaka might be posted. The Japanese team wants to get top dollar for him, and with the proposed rule changes, they could take a significant hit.
  2. Does this make Tanaka's record this year a bit better? Ryozo Kato resigns as commish
  3. Saw this on the TV yesterday. I remember when these stupid things came out. http://youtu.be/C8bE-isolmU
  4. here is one for you. I stayed up till 10 pm (I think it was 10), to watch the world premiere of Thriller on TV.
  5. They have a few things wrong with their figures. Mainly, their opening day payroll, they list as $158 million, when in reality it was around $137 million. My calcs show them at $155 in Competitive value, which is more in line with the $137 million payroll.
  6. LOL. That is awesome. He is creepy looking like a typical average clown.
  7. Caddyshack is 33 years old. Star Wars is 36 years old. When I went to college, we didn't have internet as it is today. AOL was still in it's infancy, and went against Compuserve. And I'd have to go to the library to do any kind of research.
  8. Mota asked Josh a quetion. I have no idea what was asked.
  9. LOL. Is there a reason we are waiting? Victor wants to get this game moving so he could go home.
  10. Another reason why Tanaka may make a lot of sense for the Angels. If I am not mistaken, the posting fee does not count against the Competitive Balance Tax. So you can bid $30, 40, 50, 60 million. And sign him to a 6/$60, and it will only count $10 million a year.
  11. Coupon book for a place that has no salad. Wonder if Groupon counts?
  12. Did that slide take more out of him than initially thought?
  13. I show us at an AAV of $158 million for 2013, $152 million for 2014, 126 million for 2015, and $106 million for 2016. If it shows the salary for the year, the AAV is on tab 2. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AprnDWGvbY9ZdHZ4RDc2Z0tDT2Q4S19tR3pWNVRqaGc&usp=sharing Also, one very important thing to note. The CBA runs through 2016. With the way the Doggies, Yanks, and even the Red Sox and Angels are spending, and considering that teams are getting huge sums from tv both locally and nationally, I can see a huge jump in the Competitive Balance Tax.
  14. They haven't posted it yet. But look here for all your Trout HR Porn. http://www.hittrackeronline.com/detail.php?id=2013_4343&type=hitter
  15. Or Green is depth. Which is always a good thing to have quality depth. Plus Howie is only signed till 2015. Green is still young, so learns behind Howie for the next 2 years, and if Howie asks for too much, have a competent backup already in place.
  16. Trade for Davidson + Reliever for Callhoun. 1 - Bourjos CF 2 - Kendrick 2B 3 - Trout - LF 4 - Pujols 1B 5 - Hamilton - RF 6 - Trumbo - DH 7 - Conger/Iannetta C 8 - Davidson - 3B 9 - Aybar SS Or Aybar and Shuck for Headley 1 - Bourjos CF 2 - Kendrick 2B 3 - Trout - LF 4 - Pujols 1B 5 - Hamilton - RF 6 - Trumbo - DH 7 - Headley - 3B 7 - Conger/Iannetta C 9 - Romine - SS Why not Trumbo to AZ? Salary plain and simple. AZ would love a cost controlled guy like Calhoun. And the Padres deal, Headley is in his last year before FA'cy. They may be looking to move him, and I think (Don't follow the Padres much) they need a SS that's cheap, and Shucks style may play well for a NL team.
  17. They might not, with how little he's played there this year.
