  1. Sorry, the MLB must have CB umping the playoffs. No room for him.
  2. I hope, in the end, it's a question of who threw more brinks trucks out between the Angels and Yanks, than the Angels making another token effort. It's one thing if the Angels bid $60 million and the Yanks bid $65 million. But if it's like Yu and the Rangers bidding $61 million and the Angels not bidding, I'd be a bit pissed.
  3. Good thing it's a sealed bid. So technically no one will know what the other is bidding. But Tanaka is going to be expensive. Maybe so expensive that people will forget about Maeda and get him on the cheap? http://www.oneworldsports.com/stories/japanese-pitchers-most-likely-join-mlb 2 and 4 are intriguing and could be had without blowing up the bank. Although blowing up the bank might be a good start.
  4. Gray constantly going to his cap is beginning to bug me.
  5. Guys that are 5'10" with high heels aren't ideal candidates for firstbase. Also, in the MLB, in 4 gs, he had 2 errors this season. He's more of an emergency firstbaseman than a real platoon partner.
  6. The Fountain of Youth really does exist in Florida and someone finds it. But It turns them into a zombie, and they are ground zero.
  7. Exactly. The conversation would start at Callhoun. Then the Rays would say "and", and the Angels would have no answer. We don't have the pieces that Tampa would want for Price.
  8. I put Arte different than the baseball organization. Just like I put George and to a lesser degree Hank separate from the Yanks organization. IMO, some owners involve themselves with the baseball side a bit too much.
  9. I think, and going by memory here, Helton stayed with the Rockies, and blocked a few trades, is that his family moved there, loved it there, and wanted to be close.
  10. Also what may go in the favor of an earlier post is that the rules of posting may change. I don't think they will change right away, in that it has to be negotiated, and I'm sure the Japanese Teams will fight for one last lucrative chance to score big money. Which is the only reason why Tanaka is going to be posted so early in his career. So there will be a grace period before the new rules take effect. Might only be a month, but I'm sure there will be a grace period. So I think/hope we will know if we got either of the top 2 pitchers that might be available in early November. /crossesfingers
  11. It would have to be after their season finishes. According to here, November 1-March 1 is the posting period. But of the big names, Ichiro Nov 9, Daisuke Nov 2, Yu Dec 8. Most seem to be in the November/December range. Although a few have been posted in the Jan/Feb area, more than likely due to unsignability in Japan.
  12. You could also say that according to reports, Pujols, Hamilton and the 10 year Scioscia contract wasn't an organization decision, but an Arte Moreno decision. That's the tough part, separating what was an organizational decision and what was a Arte decision. How far back does it go, and who else does it include? Because the two Arte signings cost us not only money to burn, but also first round picks. If Arte is the organization, then yes, we are down there. If it's just the baseball people making the baseball decisions, then I think they do a good job with what they have to work with.
  13. I don't think we need to trade core players to get the pitching we need. Yet. But come January, if we haven't gotten a starter or two, then we may need to.
  14. 4 year contract seems long for Yankee managers doesn't it?
  15. I can see the double A hitting coached getting canned, especially after your best prospect hits under .600 OPS.
  16. 7-up works better than Sprite. 7-up is the Japanese people's wonder tonic when sick.
  17. Another thought. But how about a series about how it all started? My choice would be, a pharmacutical firm making a new cure. Government shuts down, they can't continue without government funding, and have to sell their dogs that they were experimenting on. The one is a pit bull, and gets sold to a guy. Pit bull is real nice and adorable, until the neighborhood kid starts throwing rocks at it. Pit Bull eventually gets mad, bites the kid. Family gets angry, but then the kid starts killing the family. In the meantime, the guy tries to kill it with a gun, but because of gun control doesn't have one. Pit Bull then goes off and lives in the woods. In the meantime, social services deems the kid just has anger issues and doesn't know better because he's a kid, and puts him in a foster home. Foster parents love the kid, but the anger issues continue, and the kid kills the other foster kids. Social Services sees this, blames the foster parents, and they get life in prison. Meanwhile the kid then goes off to school, and kills an entire classroom. Teacher tries to kill the kid with a baseball bat, but a parent sees it, and calls the cops on the Teacher. Court sentences the teacher to life in prison, where he meets up with the Foster Parents, and they discuss the kid. Now the kid has killed the entire school, so you have a bunch of little kids running around causing havoc. This is right after Halloween, so Parents rally and try and abolish candy, since they say it's a sugar induced blurg. President signs into law that no one under the age of 18 can have candy, and that in the long run it will save the country billions in future health costs. The epidemic spreads to the entire city, and the president calls in the military, but they won't go because they haven't gotten paid due to the shutdown. It continues to spread, and the foster parents and the teacher are safe in jail because the zombies can't get in. Then a tornado hits in the woods, and all the pit bulls get sucked up and kill the zombies and save the world. Emmy time.
  18. I think Bourjos is coming back. I have a feeling they are going to stress D this offseason, and Bourjos brings that. Also, it would not surprise me if the Angels extend Bourjos for say a 5 or 6 year deal on the cheap. Something like a 5/$28 or a 6/$34. With the teams "salary constraints", right now is the best time to extend Bourjos on the downslope. The same might be said with Trumbo. Extend him on the cheap while he still relatively cheap. Because if the new hitting coach figures him out, he can get very expensive real quick. Now Aybar and Kendrick. I can see one of them traded. As Victor pointed out, our double play was 6th lowest in the MLB. And while not accurate, Kendrick 0.1 DWar and Aybar a 0.2 DWar can't be good. Especially in Aybar's case of a sub .700 hitter. At least Kendrick can hit. You improve the up the middle D, and the pitchers will get better. Although some of our pitchers are too far gone. Also, people won't like it. But I can see Callhoun back in the minors if he still has options left. If the Angels play it right, you send Callhoun down, 4 years of Hamilton left. 3 years, so right in Callhoun's arbitration years, Hamilton will be off the team.
  19. IMO, it might be Salmon. He's just been hanging around the team too much lately. And when you hear him talk on pre/post game, it seems like he already has an idea of what to do with the hitters.
  20. Don't know if it's been discussed before. But, with the firings, you have to think they already have an idea of who is going to replace them. Especially with Eppard. It's not like the offense was totally failing. I just hope the bench coach is strong in teaching fundamentals like Joe was.
