  1. They used a bunch of it on Hamilton already. 2014 $15 million. 2015 $23 million. 2016 $30 million.

  3. Updated the arbitration eligibles with figures provided here. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/10/arbitration-eligibles-los-angeles-angels.html#disqus_thread Current estimated opening is $148 million, estimated competitive balance tax is at $156 million. Threshhold is at $189 million.
  4. I think for the price, and what we have. You have to tender Jerome. If you non tender him, you could theoretically have a starting lineup of Weaver, CJ, Richards, Blanton, and Hanson. Not to mention no longman in the pen. I think the Angels will work out a 3 year contract with him, where he won't quite make the $3.9 million, but will make close to that. Although I think Hanson won't be tendered. Which makes the Williams retention even more important.
  5. IMO, he's still in AA. It would help if we stopped bringing guys up too soon, and develop them through all levels of the minors. There are obvious exceptions to jumping around, but IMO, Maronde hasn't put up the numbers to show he's one of them.
  6. Yes. But I think Dodger coaching staff > Angels coaching staff, although Baylor is a start in evening it out.
  7. This is just as blatant as all those players that have pine tar stuck on the bill of their caps. And yet MLB has for some reason turned a blind eye to it this season.
  8. Oh, and if they are right, and Vargas would zap all the remaining available money. We are F'd.
  9. Not looking good in arbitration for Hanson. And Richards as the #3 starter doesn't sound good at all.
  10. Anti-bullying video may have played a role in fatal Nevada school shooting: student
  11. Yeah, love the blister pack idea. I can never get those open right without like making the blister pack and usually the item inside of it all crinkly. Man so many good ideas.
  12. And I know where you are going Ettin. I've seen those posts also that want to jettison Williams. His value to the Angels, especially on the depth side is tremendous. That's why I've been hoping the Angels sign him to a 3 year deal. As long as it's kept reasonable (3/$7-$10), it would be a great value.
  13. That's why I think Williams has tremendous value for the Angels. Now, if he's making 8-12 million, maybe not. But if the Angels can sign him to a 3/$10 million as a spot starter/long reliever which is low for a starter, but pretty high for a reliever, you have to do it. Of course, not sure what Williams will get on the free agent market. Because you don't really know where he slots.
  14. Right now, the Angels have Weaver CJ Richards Williams Blanton I think you have to offer Vargas arbitration, even if he accepts and for one year you overpay $4 million. If we don't get Tanaka, it doesn't look good in the FA market. I think you also have to see about getting Buehrle from the Jays, since they are looking at our catchers. Looking at the Jays roster, they are at $110 million already for 2014, and might be looking for salary relief.
  15. Yeah, although already addressing the husband issue seems a bit quick. The Spader character could have carried this show till next season.
  16. And this is why things are so god damn expensive.
  17. Sign Tanaka Sign Yamaguchi Sign Balfour Re-sign Vargas Sign Trout to a 6+ year deal Sign Trumbo to a 5+ year deal Sign Williams to a 3 year deal Release Blanton
  18. Well, now that the train is back on the tracks. Eggs. Especially over easy, over medium eggs. I used to hate the yolk. Would only eat the egg whites. Now it doesn't bother me as much.
  19. Actually, saw that happen in the lower courts also. A chick decided she didn't want to show up for the second day. So the judge issued a bench warrant. Doesn't help when she says to a bunch of people I'm not showing up.
  20. I think you have been seeing rentals of 1 year already. But with the pitching being so bad in the FA market, the average are getting paid above average. It's really messing up the market. But then you can say that MLB is right now making money at historic levels right now. Each team is getting $50 million a year, just from national TV and other sharing plans. So you can say the increase in salaries is reflected in the revenues that teams are getting. Here is the list of FA's after the 2014 season.
  21. A bit of an overpay. But for 2 years not bad. Also remember, Zito minus the buyout, is finally off their books.
