But unlike Madson. Wilson did pitch last season. Granted, only 13.2 innings. But it was 13.2 dominant innings more than Madson. Someone will drink the cool aid. Someone always does.
Interesting. So the top bid will still win, but the bid itself would be an average of the top 2. With pretty much a deposit attached.
I still don't understand why all this blind post stuff. Just stick it on Ebay and let everyone watch as the teams bid each other up.
Because pitching is so scarce. Young pitching especially will have an especially high price tag this offseason. Every team will want to compete. And the way FA'cy is going, teams will want young under controlled players in return.
Everyone says that Trumbo is the best chip we have. I think Calhoun is probably the one that most teams will ask for, and even that might not be enough to land a young arm with huge upside.
Look at the Doggies. They are stacked in pitching. And yet they will be pursuing pitching like it's gold this offseason. Yanks needing pitching won't help the economy for pitchers either.
I still think the deal that is going to be made is an Iannetta + Blanton/Hanson for Beuhrle. It would give the Jays salary relief, a catcher, and more than likely in Hanson's case a second chance/potential starter. Angels would get a solid innings eater back end starter for a net less than they would have paid Vargas.
I'm sure Doggies will want to trade Kemp, or Eithier, or Crawford. But unless they are willing to eat a significant portion of their salary, other teams will want a Puig or pitcher added in.
