  1. His minor league stats. 2008 9-2, 3.20 ERA, 1.258 WHIP 2009 8-14 3.36 ERA, 1.15 WHIP 2010 15-8, 2.21 ERA, 0.983 WHIP 2011 10-12, 2.46 ERA, 1.023 WHIP 2012 14-7, 1.53 ERA, 0.994 WHIP 2013 15-7, 2.10 ERA, 0.962 WHIP Even with those numbers, he's projected to be a #4 pitcher.
  2. problem is, there is no luxury tax. But I digress. The Competitive Balance Tax is part of the CBA, so any changes would have to be negotiated with the union.
  3. 20 million is too low. But 50 million might be too high. Consider. Darvish $51.7 million, second place around $17 million Matsuzaka $51.1 million, second place was around $40 million Up until Matsuzaka, the next highest bid was $13 million for Ichiro They should put it at $30 million max, with a $5 million minimum. Remember that Tanaka isn't the only one that will be posted. So the posting rules that they put in place should be a benefit for all NPB teams, not just the one with the biggest star.
  4. It would be funny, if the Angels got more desperate than they are now, and brought back Williams at 3/$21 million.
  5. Daniel Hudson injury: Diamondbacks RHP tears UCL, might need 2nd Tommy John surgery
  6. Updated after todays non tenders. Opening Day Salary at $146 million, CBT at $168 million.
  7. 12/2/13 NonTendered Jerome Williams, Tommy Hanson, Chris Nelson, Juan Gutierrez
  8. And don't forget the relief of Frieri, Smith, Burnett, De La Rosa, Salas, Kohn, and Jepsen. Teams will be taking pitches, so that they can get to the pen in the 5-7th innings.
  9. Pitchers park. Won't cost that much to sign him. Yeah, that would be a fit for Jerome and the Mariners. And if he does sign with the Mariners. Have Summer Fanfest when the Mariners are in town. At least there is a chance someone will show up to the softball game.
  10. Well, Jerome will get paid somewhere. Question for the Angels is. Who the F is the long reliever now? Because Hanson or Blanton better not be the answer. And who is the starting pitching depth now? And the answer better not be Hanson or Blanton. This team just got a new gaping hole in it.
  11. Thinking the same thing myself Tdawg.
  12. For the length of the contracts that was listed. Yes, I'd be ok with it. You don't give up any draft picks. Presumably, you would stay under the cap. Offense got better this offseason with Freese. Defense got a little bit worse with Freese. And with Hamilton and Pujols, you are already limited in what you can do with payroll in the firstplace.
  13. AL West Notes: Kazmir, Colon, Angels, Bloomquist Again, I don't get the non tendering of Hanson and Williams. You can always tender them, then trade them. And considering what FA pitchers are getting, I think there would be some market for them. Heck, I think Blanton even has a market. Also, by non tendering Hanson and Willams, you are getting closer to a Blanton rotation. We will literally have zero depth at SP even if we sign another starter or two.
  14. A College Kid Made More Than $24,000 Just by Waving This Sign on ESPN
  15. Yeah, what a difference an hour makes. Now it seems like 2/$22-24 might be the starting point. And it still might be the cheapest option available.
  16. Porsche better get ready to open up the wallet.
  17. Bummer. Toronto was one of the few teams interested in Iannetta.
  18. Santana must be a smiling. Seems odd that they would fork over 2/$22 for Kazmir than say they might not be able to sign Colon.
