  1. So we are trading Trumbo for 2 Jerome Williams? Sorry if I don't get excited for trading for a pitcher with a career minor league WHIP of 1.32 and a major league WHIP of 1.36, and a young player we already traded away that has a MLB 5.43 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in the NL, although his minor league numbers of 3.33 ERA, 1.23 WHIP shows he could improve a bit. This trade smells desperation, and the Sox and Dbacks are taking advantage of it.
  2. No that's the unlock the secret level to AW.com
  3. So I'm trying to figure out who the thief was. The Bank or the Court.
  4. The problem is this. The Angels have 4 years of control of him. So that is the Angels only leverage. He's going to break records in arbitration. But the Angels should not set precedence by going all stupid on the league. Because in arbitration it's not that people will be better. But they will say that they are half as good as Trout and thus worth half what he got. Here is MLB Trade Rumors article from 2 years ago on Arbitration Records: Position Players. Now some players did sign higher contracts to buy out their arbitration years. So Arb 1 $10 million, Arb 2 $11.3 million, Arb 3 $15.5 million. Of course Howard got bought out of Arb 2 and 3, at $15 million and $19 million. So for Trout, the Angels should be looking at $11 milllion, $16 million, and $20 million for his arbitration years. For this year $1 million. Then for his free agency years, well, $25-$30 million. 10 years: 14:$1 15:$11 16:$16 17:$20 18:$25 19:$30 20:$30 21:$30 22:$30 23:30 Total $223 million CBT hit about $22.3 million 6 years: 14:$1 15:$11 16:$16 17:$20 18:$25 19:$30 Total $103 million CBT hit about $17.1 million Personally, I'd like the Angels do a 6 year deal. They could always renegotiate before the contract expires to extend it 3-4 years later on. This gives the Angels some certainty of another 6 years and avoids arbitration where he will break records, but gives Trout financial stability, while also still having a big FA'cy payout. Just in case he goes all Ryan Howard on everyone.
  5. I really really hope Dipoto's idea of waiting for the pitching price to come down, does not mean he's hoping Santana's $125 million demands come down to $100 million.
  6. Refs did everything in their power to give the wins to the Hawks. So suck it refs. Ducks win.
  7. Wada is definitely interesting. But it concerns me when even Baltimore rejects a $5 million option.
  8. D'backs. small market. So Callhoun is a perfect fit for them. Oh wait, I forgot. It's what we want to give and take, not what other teams need.
  9. Man, there sure is a lot of action. And Winter Meetings haven't even started yet. Good for Naps.
  10. Houston had a $26 million payroll last year. They still haven't spent as much as their MLB contribution and National TV share yet.
  11. If the Mariners sign Napoli, that pretty much means Morales will be screwed. He'll have no place to play on the Mariners, and with a qualifying offer that he rejected, any team that signs him loses the first round pick.
  12. Actually no. He has 3 years until free agency. They can keep Tanaka for 2 more years, then post him when he's 27 and still get the $20 million.
  13. Why not please the Marli.......Oh shoot. Nevermind, it's the Marlins.
  14. So if paying Cano $28 mil when he's 41 is absurd and desperate. What does that make the Angels paying Pujols $30 million when he's 31 mean?
  15. Maybe Cano doesn't want to raise his family in NY, and instead thinks $60 million is enough to justify moving next door to Chuck?
  16. Career yes doesn't come close. I'm more worried about Pujols Angels career coming close to Cano's Mariner career.
  17. still think the money would have been better spent by the Mariners getting Choo and Granderson. Then again, who says the Mariners might not be finished. Even with Cano, their opening day payroll is at $60 million not counting arbitration guys.
  18. Williams was arbitration 3. He wasn't a free agent. So if you tendered him, it would be an arbitration situation.
  19. To get to a 1.33 WHIP, if his second half was incredible, that would mean his first half was Bantonesque. Not a good selling point, for a team that makes it a habit to take off the first half lately.
