That's a tough one. IMO, I think Aybar is on the downslope. Right now, I'm wondering if Romine might be the better defender. Aybar is probably a better hitter than Romine. But Aybar isn't on a level like a Drew. Aybar is IMO a pretty average hitting SS.
Porcello IMO is what he is. A #4/5 type pitcher for the reasons I stated above. But considering our pitching options, that's what we need.
Yeah, I'd probably do a Porcello/Aybar straight up trade. I'd hope Porcello can give up a low 4 ERA/1.3ish WHIP. That would be a solid #4/5 for us. Would let us ease in Skaggs. Would put a better defense behind the pitchers, which might help their numbers a bit. Free the spot for Romine to prove he belongs. And if not, we still have Green. So it's a position of depth. Salary wise, probably a wash.
