  1. I don't know about Smyly. Just looking at his stats. Year 1, 1.27 WHIP, 3.09 ERA mainly a starter. Year 2, 1.04/2.37 mainly as a reliever. year 3 so far, 1.31/3.77 ERA mainly as a starter. They are good numbers, WHIP is concerning as a starter, and he might be a better reliever. So it's more like Green and Santiago for Price. And I'd do that.
  2. that makes it even more of a headscratcher. There has to be more involved.
  3. Yeah, I'm thinking the same myself. There has to be more involved right?
  4. If all of these people would go to games, maybe moves like this wouldn't happen with the A's on regularity. The A's have the best record in baseball. And yet they are 23rd in attendance. San Diego gets more people per game than them, and they absolutely suck. So when they say they lost him for no reason. I say BS. They lost him, like a lot of other great players in the past that started in Oakland, because no one goes to the games to support them, and thus they can't afford them.
  5. Don't forget Electra, Catwoman, Most Supermans, pre nolan Batman, Fantastic Four, how the hell do you reboot Spiderman so soon. List goes on. But then you have those comic movies that go against the grain, like Sin City and 300. IMO, this is the second age of Comic Book movies. The first age was the Superman and Batman movies. That spawned a different kind of Comic Book movies that more resembled the comic books. This is the second age of Comic Books, and these seem more in line with Graphic novels than comic books. And to me, there is no difference than a movie made from a comic than from a book. Wizard of Oz was based on a book. Godfather was based on a book. Creativity comes in all forms of writing. And if you limit yourself to books, you might as well just get baseball information strictly from a fan forum.
  6. Nope, they won't do much. Because they already addressed the biggest problem on the Angels in the pen earlier in the month.
  7. Why the A's might have traded Cespedes, IMO. He makes $10.5 million next season. That is a huge amount for the A's. That's 1/8 their entire payroll. There was no chance the A's would re-sign him after 2015. Cespedes has a .767 OPS this season, .788 for a career, and has gone from a .861 to a .736 to a .767. We aren't talking a Trout and a .970, or a Pig and a .943, or a Stanton and a .935. We are talking a sub .800 hitter. We all know his exploits with the arm. And yet he's been barely over a replacement player this season on D at a 0.6. His previous seasons, he's been a -1.1 and a -0.5. Moneyball. What I saw from the movie (OK don't laugh, no way am I going to read a book), OBP is a big part of Beane's thinking. And Cespedes has a .303 OBP this season. That puts him 10th on the team for players with over 100 PA's. But I do think that Cespedes will crush in that bandbox of Boston. His skillset fits much better there, than in Oakland. So it's a win for the Red Sox. For the A's, the Mausoleum will always be a pitchers park first. Beane is looking to win now, because on his payroll limitations, now might be it, because tomorrow he might not be able to afford any of the main players.
  8. I should be interested in this film. But I'm not. It just looks dark, with a bunch of unneccessary special effects, that is still stuck in the 80's.
  9. I don't think they could. Because of what Lester has been saying about returning back to the Red Sox in the offseason. That statement dropped his price considerably.
  10. Don't you mean stretching singles into doubles?
  11. Initially I thought, WTF. But looking at it more. This is a total Beane move. Cespedes for all the hype, has not hit over .800. He's a FA after 2015. Beane usually trades a year early, than a year late. They are all in, and their farm isn't touched. * checked the stats again, and his rookie season he hit .861. His next 2 seasons have been in the .700's.
  12. Nate and Halomagic will go ballistic if they ever see it.
  13. Guess they leaked the final credits online. Umm. WTF is all I can say.
  14. No Dew? Is that even possible for you? That's like telling Charlie Sheen, no more hookers and blow.
  15. 'Out of nowhere': Twins sign undrafted ex-truck driver with 100 mph throw
  16. That's a steep price for Masterson, considering he will be a free agent in the offseason.
  17. Chances Of Lackey Trade Are “Very Good” Makes sense. Lester, people know the chances of him signing back with Boston is very high. So he's just a few month rental. Lackey they get for another year, and possibly longer. So teams may be willing to give up a lot more for Lackey than Lester.
  18. Teemu Forever! Selanne will decide on playing in KHL soon
  19. I believe the tax is based on repeat offending in consecutive years. So if you are over by $2 million in year one, and in year 2 you are under, then the tax resets. It's one of the biggest reasons why the Yankees are trying to get under the tax. So that they can reset the penalties.
  20. Phillies Make Hamels Available; Dodgers Interested
  21. If it's Mariners, there is a chance that he won't be a rental. Anywhere else, chances are he's back in Boston next season. So Shuck is about all I'd offer.
