  1. That means he will miss most if not all of the next season also. So much for it being a minor forearm strain.
  2. LAPD MISCLASSIFIED NEARLY 1,200 VIOLENT CRIMES AS MINOR OFFENSES So I guess crime hasn't been going down as well as the brass at LAPD would like you to believe.
  3. Yes, but that's not the NCAA. That is two conferences whose members are part of the NCAA. Just because the Pac 11's TV deal is $3 billion, it doesn't mean the NCAA gets $3 billion. It's similar to the Angels TV deal. They get whatever billions. The MLB will get 25%, but that's only to distribute to all the other teams. So the MLB really doesn't make much from the local TV revenues.
  4. http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/NCAA_FS_2012-13_V1%20DOC1006715.pdf Absolutely false that the NCAA makes billions off of these kids. According to the publicly audited financials of the NCAA, they made about $60 million for the year ended 2013. While they did make $722 million in revenues from Television and marketing fees, with an additional $108 million in tournament income. They also distributed $526 million to D1 schools, and surprisingly, the tournaments cost the NCAA $92 million. Overall, they have assets of $627 million, but that has built up over years. While O'Bannon has won, I would not be surprised if his judgement is similar to the USFL.

  8. In Angels-Dodgers series, Fox trots away with TV viewing prize
  9. And looking at the list that Zen put up. I don't see an improvement at 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, or C over what we have now. Although Mathis is on there.
  10. I think it's too early to tell what we may need in the offseason. The Angels, or more specifically, the starting pitching is entering into uncharted territory. Richards is at 153 IP, a career high. Skaggs is at 113 IP, which is a MLB high, but he has pitched 150ish innings in the minors. But his latest injury is somewhat of a concern. Shoemaker actually has pitched into the 180's IP in the minors for a season. So it will depend on how they are effective towards the end of the season. Of course if CJ continues to show blah, the young guys progression towards 200 IP will be more critical. But with 2 years left on the contract, he just gets regulated to a #4/5 pitcher with the kids leapfrogging him. Also remember there is Santiago in the wings. While another #1 would be nice. I don't think it's something we absolutely need like in previous offseasons.
  11. And people say there is no such things as jinx's.
  12. So I hear there is a perfect game going on somewhere tonight. Hope it's on TV somewhere.

  14. When you think about it though. Gonzalez lasted all the way to the Dogs, in the opposite league. So it could be an AL team. Are the Rangers desperate enough? Pitching is what they need, and this could be a move for next year.
  15. A bear walks into a bar. Of course if he was walking like a normal bear, he would have walked under it.
  16. $73.5 million + still owed to him. Whoever got the claim, you have to listen to an offer right? Now if it was Howard or Lee, you might hit the eject button right away.

  19. Also, I think Comcast in Houston declared bankruptcy. So they are totally in limbo.
  20. Lance Armstrong. He never got caught at the time. But Cycling, which has gone through steroid hell, has a very stringent drug testing program. What he got caught on, was when the technology caught up, and they tested saved stored samples from years ago. I don't think that there is such a system now, in the MLB. So all the cheaters have to do is beat the current system and they are home free. There are thousands of Biogenesis' around the country. (in google maps, just type in anti aging) And I'm sure there are a few more BALCO's around, especially around the world. And these guys are just working on ways to beat the system.
