    Pass on Murphy. Everyone is seeing his postseason and thinking yay another Freese. His defense is a negative WAR at all positions. He's a mid .700 ops hitter. He gets on base about a .330 clip. So with everything that is said on AW.com the last few weeks. His defense is worse than a replacement player, so lets get him. He has no power, so lets get him. He is not an obp machine, so lets get him. He's 30 so the wrong side of 30 crowd will want him.

    I must be the bad luck. Thought the game started at 7:30. Checked my phone, and we were up 2-1. Didn't turn on the tv till 3rd period. At least Santorelli scored and we got the empty netter. I don't think I'll be so gung ho to watch the games from start to finish anymore. They do better when I am not.

    I agree that the Korean third baseman would be interesting. Just because if you can get him like Pittsburgh got their Korean secondbaseman, it would be a very cheap option. All things considered, very little risk especially financially, in a free agent class that isn't that great at 3B. Freese might be the top, and we know his D. he might get over $15 million a year, just because there is not much out there.

    I say we seize all those companies assets for tax evasion. That's what would happen to you and me if we did that right?

    If he could stay healthy. He is a monster. But he seems to suffer from every other year disease. The thing going for him is, he is the first base FA option. According to Cot's, this is a pretty weak 1B class. So he actually may get overpaid more than the OF options that is very deep. Just supply and demand.

    Yeah, that was what I was thinking would be the big deterrent. Then again, if Mattingly is with the Marlins, you know who will be with the Dogs.

    He actually has 4 years left. He has 3 years on his contract. Look at his service time, and he'll have a bit over 2 years. The unusual part of his contract is that at year 3, arbitration for him probably 2, he can opt out of his contract and accept arbitration. And no, for those that think, opting out of his contract does not mean he becomes a free agent. There is nothing on Cot's that would suggest that he would become a free agent. Just that he can opt out of his contract to get to arbitration.

    For those that think a Wilson for Puig + cash. I don't think it will ever happen. Even straight up, I don't think it will ever happen. Puig has 4 more years of club control for dirt cheap. Even if you pay him his last 3 years in arbitration numbers, he will still be cheap compared to what FA's may make this offseason. Someone will trade them good prospects or players for him. For some reason, I can see the Marlins making a play for him.

    And that could be another warning sign. And again, just going on numbers. But if he hasn't pitched more than 65 IP at any level. Will he be able to handle 200+ IP in a season? Or will he be in the pen as a closer eventually? A lot of ifs. Which is why I don't think for the right trade he is untouchable.

    Newcomb, ERA. 2.75 going from Rookie to AA in 2 seasons. So that is a good sign. Newcomb, WHIP. 1.29 going from Rookie to AA in 2 seasons. With a low of 1.26. That is the big glaring warning sign for me.
