  1. Glad I missed tonights game. what a train wreck. At this point, I have to pin this on Bruce. Because the talent is there. The strategy or whatever just doesn't seem to be there.

  7. CJ for Teix + 2.5 million. Money wise it would be a wash. Oh and something something bad idea to listen to a woman.
  8. It would be funny if the Marlins won a world series before the Dodgers. I believe that would make three total that the Marlins would have then won since the last Dodgers championship.
  9. Entertain me AW.com. I already popped the popcorn.

  11. I think the two biggest questions that only arte and the owners can answer. 1. How much over the tax will Arte be willing to go. 2. How high will the CBT be for the next 3-4 years. 1. we don't know. He said he will go over for the right player. Hopefully that means he will really go over. 2. I still think it won't go up much. You read teams like the Mets, Pirates, etc say they can't retain their players due to money issues. Just because we might be able to spend, doesn't mean that we should be rewarded for outspending and trying to buy a playoff berth. And considering 2/3 of the owners will be way under. I can't see them rewarding the 1/3 and probably 1/4 that might go over.
  12. Ordinarilly I would say yup. But a certain fish expires in 5 years. And the only guarantee is that he may play here for the next 5 years. I would like to take advantage of that.
  13. Why Shield Water Hogs? Oddly, it's an LA times article, but not on LA Times site. In any case. One of the worst water wasters in the state is related to baseball. I'll give you some hints. It's not to give water to his elephant. And he had a movie made after him.
  14. Zobrist Fowler would be nice. It would cut it a bit close to budget, but it's probably doable. As someone pointed out, Span could be a good alternative also.
  15. Pen arm. How about the Korean dude? Should come under budget, and top end he competes for the closer, if not, setup or get oout of inning after a pitcher meltdown stopper.
  16. I think it's safe to say that we will not lose a draft pick no matter who we sign for the pen. Even elite closers may not get to the qualifying offer threshhold.
  17. From a budget of $31-41 million. This would be my shot at it. Yes, I said I liked other people more or less than other people. But looking at the budget constraints. C - Perez $0 move 3B - Cowart - $0 move not popular, but you have to think budget and it's sink or swim time for these two. CJ Wilson - Trade $10 million/eat $10 million - CBT a net of I believe CBT $7.5 million So now $38.5-$48.5 million. Still not a lot. Murphy - excercise option. +6.5 million. So back down to $32-42 million. 2B - Zobrist say $15 million. Hopefully a little less. Benefits of him, will probably be a 2-3 year contract. So long term very CBT friendly. $17-$27 million LF - I'd love Fowler, or Heyward, or Cespedes. But I just don't think we have the money. I think you have to wait the market out, and hope someone gets squeezed out, since there are so many OF'ers available. But I say $10-12 million would be our budget on an OFer. SP - Again, we have to go budget. Haven't really researched SP'ers so not sure. But $10 million is probably where we are looking to spend. That should leave around $5 million for relievers. And $5 is usually good enough to get a quality pen arm.
  18. I'm looking hard at the projections I have. You can use Ettins numbers, or Cots or do your own research. But looking at my sheet. Let's look at our financial options. Moreno says he will go over the CBT. Let's say he does. How much will he go over? Some are saying up to $200 million. So if we go there. Our CBT for next season currently sits at $169 million. So that's $31 million to spend this offseason. And our glaring holes are LF, 2B, 3B, and you can even go to C, not to mention an ace and bullpen help. Now if you want to look further than one year. In 2017, no matter how much people say we are subtracting salary and we look good, our CBT is very roughly $125 million. So whatever we add this year, add to next year. $31 million would put it at over $156 million. So $44 million to spend next offseason/season assuming the CBT goes to $200 million. If the cap gets raised that high. So say you want to hedge and spend $10 million of the 2017 money. While $34 million sounds like a lot, arbitration and small signings can eat away at that quick. And if the CBT doesn't get raised much tax wise, it can be very problematic. To the point you have no money to sign any high end FA's. So you have $31-41 million to spend this offseason. So how would you fill it?
  19. Murphy has only played 86 games at 3B in 7 MLB seasons, and looking at the numbers is on par with Freese's defense. So if you are going to overpay for Murphy, might as well keep the pick and sign Freese. I think the Rockies can get better for Gonzalez than CJ and Shoemaker. There is just no value in it for the Rockies, since even aces look like #3 pitchers there. Fister might be a good buy low candidate. But IMO, the Angels need a bona fide ace more than a 2/3 type pitcher. Avila could be a buy low. But you would have to make sure that he can play C still. Not sure what his injury situation was this year. His downward numbers is concerning, and I'm not sure if this would be a place to spend money on.
  20. You know the sign of the apocolypse and that the Kardashians are absolute trash. When Plashke writes a good article that makes sense.
  21. You do know you are talking about the Angels right? Overpay is in our DNA.
