Just from this one trade, here are my thoughts.
Eppler likes D.
Eppler wants to win now.
Eppler thinks minor league players are potential pawns and is not afraid to deal them for knights and kings for the MLB club.
Also, I think that the Angels are probably in big for Heyward. The D in the outfield with GG Calhoun, Trout in CF, and GG Heyward might make it the best D in the Angels history. And would follow suite with the D he just traded for in the infield. And a great D like that could make an average starting lineup pretty spectacular.
If it was the 2 best prospects in the MLB, than no it's not worth it. But this is the 2 best Angels prospects. And no matter how good Scotty says they are. I think Newcomb was ranked 24th in the MLB. And Ellis wasn't even ranked.
So giving up the 24th best prospect for 5 years of the best SS in the MLB, to play along with the best player in the MLB for those 5 years.
I'm good with it.
At first I was pretty bummed. But it looks like we got the second coming of Ozzie Smith. And I'm ok with giving up some prospects for that.
I just hope we have some more FA moves planned.
Usually on this board, predictions are way off. I mean we will want A, and end up with somewhere around N.
I think you practically nailed it. And if anything, you weren't generous enough.
As your first post. I think we see you Mr. Eppler.
Ok Ok. Silver Lining time.
Maybe this GM realizes that we have a once in a generation player. And there is no sure thing that he will stay with the team beyond the 5 years they have him signed for.
So he will put the best MLB Team around him that he can, so that we can win now.
Which hopefully means he will be very active in the FA market.
Colby Rasmus To Accept Astros’ Qualifying Offer
First person to do it. He would have been a good lower tier signing. But I can see why he would want to stay in Houston.
Conspiracy theory time. But there were movements in Russia and Iran against involvement in Syria. Especially since their soldiers were dying.
Then all of a sudden a plane goes down and a suicide bombing occurs.
Angels GM Billy Eppler looks at Garrett Richards as an ace
So from this article, might cross out Ace's like Greinke, Price and such. And also CFers, which would include likes of Fowler, Span, and to a lesser degree Rasmus.
Hall of Famer Lou Brock recovering after partial amputation of left leg
Sad news. He was something on the basepads. And having diabetes taking his leg.
