  1. It’s funny… after all the criticism of the rich, no comments about The Giving Pledge.
  2. I think that’s true of most people, regardless of income.
  3. Thats true since Trump changed the tax law. You have to give more to have any impact on your taxes.... $12,400 for single people and $24,800 for couples. The minimum deduction was lower prior to Trump. We are still trying to determine if that has had an impact on giving.
  4. I study why people give. It's part of my job. More likely to give for tax reasons doesn't mean that's the main reason or that most give for that reason alone. I'm simply stating of the two groups, the middle class are more likely. Not wrong.
  5. I've worked in non-profit fundraising for 30 years (for a variety of organizations). A lot of wealthy people give plenty. Some give anonymously. They don't give for tax benefits. They give to the causes they're most passionate about. The middle class is more likely to I give for tax reasons... I'm not defending billionaires. It's just funny to me that some of you think you know their motives and you think or think the government knows what's best for their money. Fact is philanthropy as a percentage of the GDP hasn't changed from about 2% in 40 years. That number would be even lower if the wealthy didn't give. Like I said earlier... 56% of Americans give at all and we are the most generous country in the world. Focusing your anger on the philanthropic habits of the wealthy is misplaced, IMO.
  6. https://givingpledge.org/ Elon Musk is on this list.
  7. Meet me at the corner of Orangewood and State College at midnight. Bring lots of cash.
  8. Yes, but Ippei is shutting down his vocal cords for the rest of the year.
  9. Of course, you'd prefer I didn't contribute because my view is usually contrary to yours... Don't worry, I don't have the energy for this stuff.
  10. It astounds me that you guys go back and forth on this stuff day after day after day after day after... I engaged on stuff for just a little bit and I've had enough.
  11. We aren't fighting. I'm schooling Taylor and providing him life lessons.
  12. I had no idea you had that kind of money. You should move out of Glendale. You could live in South Pasadena instead.
  13. Deflect. Attack. Avoid. Nice work, Taylor.
  14. 56% percent of Americans give... the other 46% probably complain about what the 56% give to.
