  1. Because Joe Maddon isn't the problem, obviously... supposedly... allegedly... apparently... FFS
  2. Well, the Red Sox were 24-36 last season and turned it around. The Brewers, Giants and Astros were 29-31 in 2020. The really interesting team is the Giants... who were also 77-85 in 2019 and 73-89 in 2018. How did they do it? Obviously, it can be done...

  4. I have a number of autographed photos and baseballs... Some HOFers, I have... Bob Gibson, Ralph Kiner, Ferguson Jenkins, Bob Feller, Eddie Murray, Rollie Fingers, Harmon Killebrew, Frank Robinson, Tom Seaver, Dave Winfield, Don Sutton, Tony Gwynn, Vlad Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman, Bert Blyleven, Rod Carew, Mike Piazza, George Brett, Frank Thomas Albert Pujols (future HOF), Mike Trout (GOAT) I also have some who are a far cry from the HOF.... Trevor Reckling, Brandon Wood, Dallas McPherson, John Mayberry, Jr., Gary Matthews, Jr. Some favorites and other notables... Raul Ibanez, Edgar Martinez, Garvey/Lopez/Russell/Cey, Billy Wagner, Jimmy Rollins, Don Newcombe, Andrew McCuthen, Ryan Braun, David Wright, Michael Young, Scott Rolen, Kirk Gibson, Orel Hershiser, Mike Cameron, Eric Young, Jake Peavy... Some favorite Angels auto's... Joe Saunders, Jered Weaver, Tim Salmon (most everyone from 2002 team), Kendrys Morales, Jeff Mathis, Torii Hunter, Mike Napoli, Doug DeCines, Gary DiSarina (don't tell IP), Kelvim Escobar, Ken Forsch, Eli Grba, Bobby Abreu, Mark Langston, Paul Byrd, Jim Abbott, Chuck Finley, Howie Kendrick, Mike Scioscia, HIdeki Matsui, Juan Rivea, Kirk McCaskill, Orlando Cabrera, ... I even have Nick Adenhart. I have somewhere around 200 signed baseballs, tons of photos, tickets, etc. I always tried to get photos personalized. Never looked at this stuff as an investment - pure hobby. Some autos I don't have, but would like to get... Troy Tulowitzki, Evan Longoria, Nolan Ryan, Shohei Ohtani, Ichiro, and I'm sure there are others. Many of the autos have a story tied to them.. and that was the fun part.
  5. The Hoffman card would have more personal value, IMO. I have a number of personalized autographed photos. They have personal value to me because they probably aren't worth anything to anyone else.
  6. It's the Mormon and the Moron card.

  9. I don't know Python... I'm not a programmer, but I use predictive models in my work... I just don't create them.
  10. If you like wrestling movies, you should check out "Foxcatcher."
  11. The cool thing about that job description is that they're looking for someone who has experience with Python. That's a tool used to create models through Machine Learning (ML). The cool thing about using ML (which is a form of artificial intelligence) is that there isn't any limit to the amount of data you can give it. AND... it gets better over time because it continues to learn based on new data and that improves the modeling. I've assumed, but never knew for sure if MLB was using ML in creating their models - as opposed to traditional regression models which are limited in the number of data points you can use and as a result, prone to bias.
  12. Doug Eddings behind the plate tonight... not ranked in the top 30 of umpires for accuracy... his strike zone is huge...
  13. As @Inside Pitch’s agent, I can tell you all that Arte can’t afford IP.
