I understand all that... but this is about Maddon leaving Trout in with a big lead and Minasian calling the dugout to tell him to take him out. It's not the same thing as Maddon going against the overall plan or philosophy. Him not seeing eye to eye with what Minasian wanted the team to do is what got him fired. He deserved to get fired. Again, I'm glad he's gone. I can't stand Maddon. If Minasian got to the point where he felt he had to call the dugout to instruct Maddon on how to run the team - he probably waited too freakin' long to fire him. He should have done it sooner. Once he made that call, there was no going back.

Take a look at the year by year batting averages for major league baseball https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/bat.shtml This year it was a pathetic .243 OBP was a crappy .312 You can sort those numbers from high to low or low to high... Compare the numbers to previous years. It's eye opening. How come averages and on-base percentages are trending down?

Whatever. This whole thing quickly became tiresome. Again, I'm glad Joe is gone... but I also think Minasian should stay out of the dugout during games. Just my opinion.

I would guess it happened often enough... and it probably contributed to him ultimately getting fired. Firing him was the right move.

That's all true... still, I think Minasian calling into the dugout is out of the ordinary and I can see why that would PO any manager. That doesn't make me like Joe more or regret him being fired... I just think people might lose sight of some of the things he is saying because they dislike him so much.

Maddon is trying to stay relevant. It's kind of sad. I'd rather he just go away, but that's not likely. That being said - his thoughts on how GM's and analytics are taking over are worth noting.

I agree with Maddon on this one. I'm not a Maddon fan, but I still agree with his point of view on this.
