C'mon! Time to hammer this soft tossing lefty!

You know if someone wanted to write something interesting, it would be nice to understand how or if Ohtani embraces his culture... more specifically the idea of a "Salaryman" culture that exists in Japan. Was his dad a Salaryman? I'm curious. Does that factor into his decision process?

I really hate the title of this... "to get Shoehi to the playoffs" Makes me not want to read the article... It's not about Shohei, IMO. He's not the reason they need to get to the postseason. He plays a role in how they get there, but again - it's not about him. Maybe I'm just being cranky.

I like their chances with Ohtani because I have no idea what they'd get back if they traded him. What they have is pretty amazing and gives them the best chance to win, IMO. Ohtani just demonstrated what can happen when he dominates a game.

I find the narrative boring and pointless... that doesn't mean I won't comment on it. This narrative comes up over and over again. We get it. Some people hate Rendon because of his history of injuries as an Angel. It's unfortunate. Did you listen to the most recent podcast #9? Victor talks about this and makes great points.

Where is this thread that @gotbeer posted this in? I can't imagine what those people are going through. Just a horrible situation.

If they trade Ohtani, don't you think that sends a message to the team that they don't believe they can contend?

What is the purpose of harping on this narrative over and over and over....? It is what it is. Every FA signing is a risk. I hate the situation. I don't hate the player. Stuff happens.

I have no idea. I think it's possible. That's enough for me. It doesn't even matter what I think. I believe the Angels think they can contend and their best chance is with Ohtani. That's all that matters. Quite frankly, I like that they think they can contend. And I expect them to add pieces by the deadline.

OR... The Angels make the postseason and have an amazing season WITH Ohtani. He signs a long term deal after the season. Everyone is happy... Well, maybe not everyone... THIS is the season to go ALL IN. Not trade THE key piece and fold.

No one is talking about the missing submersible near the Titanic? If it ends poorly... what a horrible way to die.

If Ohtani walks, I will view Arte Moreno as the owner who did what he could to keep him. Even though I'm not the biggest Arte fan, I won't hold it against him if Ohtani walks. I don't see any possible way Arte trades him before the end of the season. The team has a legitimate shot at the post-season. Whatever happens when this season is done will be on Ohtani. He will have all the control and has earned that right. I just want the Angels to make it an obvious decision for him to stay. They've already done a lot to that end. Now, they just need to win and let Arte take care of the rest.
