I think a lot of fans are quick to put players in a box. When Ohtani struggled with the bat in ST of his first year - many were saying he should only pitch. His bat came around. When he had TJ surgery, some said he should just hit. He came back. Schanuel hasn't even had a 100 PA and some of you are already writing him off as a power hitter. Maybe he won't have elite power, but he's certainly going to have some power. He doesn't have to have elite power to have a productive career. Mark Grace only hit 7 HR's in his first full season. In his first five seasons, he only hit double digit homers - once. He still made it into the HOF.

I heard Dairy Queen was closing all of its 5,700 locations. That's horrible news. I don't eat their food, but love their ice cream. I prefer it over just about other ice cream shop.

Finally got to listen to the podcast. I really appreciate Victor's candidate takes on things. You all continue to do a great job. I had a thought about the pitching this year. I think last year Syndergaard had a positive impact on the staff last season (while he was here) and they don't have that veteran presence there any more. They don't have a guy who can take someone like Sandoval aside and tell him the truth.... The Angels need that respected veteran who can be a mentor.

Is that your opinion or do you know this to be an actual fact?

I have questioned some of Nevin's in-game decisions, but not any more than I have any other manager. It's something we all do. I'm more interested in his leadership skills and I don't have a good gauge on that.
