  1. I think keeping Minasian would be a sign that Arte is starting to understand how to stay out of the way more. We saw a difference in the way they went about building a roster this year. I am going to give Minasian credit for that. I'm going to assume that Minasian is having a positive influence on Moreno. He stopped Moreno from going after Trey Turner. He convinced him to go over the cap at the deadline, etc., etc. Firing Minasian now would make me believe Moreno didn't learn a damn thing.
  2. We'll take your word for it because apparently - you would know.
  3. Let me just add... the team took a huge step forward this year in the way they went about constructing a roster. It didn't work out - but it wasn't the same old, same old. Maybe Moreno is starting to figure stuff out. Who knows? At least there's a glimmer of hope. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  4. For an owner who supposedly "loves baseball" - he doesn't always act like it. I've said it before... the Angels have a culture problem and that starts with Arte. At the end of the day, Arte may know how to make money - but he doesn't seem to know how to lead men and women. He's not inspiring. Great leaders make their teams feel safe. He doesn't do that from what I can tell. He seems to lack humility and I think many great leaders have that too. I get the impression he loves the idea of owning a team. He loves being at the park, etc. - but he doesn't have the passion for the game the way some owners might. Maybe that's not fair. I don't know the man. That being said - over the years a picture of who he is has been painted for us and most of us wouldn't want to hang that painting on our wall. At the end of the day - it's his team. He gets to do what he wants to do and it's all out of our control I'm an Angels fan, but being a fan isn't the most important thing in my life. It's not even close. Baseball is supposed to be fun. Angels baseball hasn't been much fun of late. Thankfully, I have other things to do and focus on. I keep my eyes on the Angels because when it is fun - it's real fun. My interest would probably be even less than it is right now if it wasn't for AW. AW helps keep my interest in the game. AW is a big part of my fandom now. That's saying something. That's a testimony to the work Chuck has done. Players, coaches, GM's, broadcasters, etc. all come and go... but the AW faithful are here day in and day out. That helps make baseball fun for me.
  5. I like the fact Perry isn't sticking to the old ways and is looking to push the envelope. I think the risks he takes are calculated. He's not flying by the seat of his pants. I think a lot of thought and conversations take place before they push a guy to the major league level. Yes, some of it has happened out of necessity, but I don't think it's been haphazard by any means. I also don't think he's being impatient - he's taking advantage of opportunities when they develop. There's no fear there and I like that. He's willing to fail and that is a part of success. I don't feel he's acted desperate at all. I like the "unusual approach." Lots of great players made the jump from AA to the majors over the years. When they're ready - they're ready.
  6. These are enough to give anyone nightmares.
  7. Let's just say Walsh is easy to root for and I hope he makes it all the way back. He'd be great to have in RF and backup at 1B. The excerpts about his struggles and thought process was interesting.
  8. A really great book you might consider is "The Soul of Baseball" - A Road Trip Through Buck O'Neil's America. Written by Joe Posnanski about Buck O'Neil, an American professional baseball player in the Negro leagues during the 1940s and 1950s. It's such an uplifting book and a great story.
  9. Episode 21... the Rabbit Hole edition! If there wasn't video, I'd have pictured you two sitting in a barber shop, shooting the sh!t. Minus the peanut gallery. Entertaining stuff, gentlemen.
  10. I stopped going to Panera years ago. The tomatoes in their salads always seemed mushy and flavorless
  11. Nothing is better than those 2 fruits when they’re perfectly ripe. Easily my 2 favorites. Both make excellent smoothies and shakes too.
  12. @FromJapan - where do you think Ohtani will sign? What’s the sentiment in Japan?
  13. My point was you're doing a horrible job of selling yourself as an editor.
  14. If you made your living doing sales, your family would starve.
  15. Everything is more expensive now... groceries, gas, cars, etc.
