  1. many are called; few are chosen.
  2. "Three-time All-Star player Lenny Dykstra, and his omnipresent wad of chewing tobacco, won the 1986 World Series. However, by 2011 he had lost about $50 million. In 2008, he began a high-end jet charter company and a magazine offering financial advice to athletes. In 2009, he filed for bankruptcy, and in 2011 he was indicted on charges of car theft and drug possession. His legal troubles didn't end there. In Aug. 2011, he was charged with allegedly exposing himself to women he met on Craiglist." i guess the magazine wasn't such a good idea afterall. DR, good thing dykstra wasn't the one who put in the ad for long toss.
  3. never seen it. don't know what station, time or day it's broadcast. help?
  4. that reminds me, we haven't heard from adam in quite a while . . .
  5. met him at a kings game once. as nice as you would want him to be. but yeah, the photos look pretty staged.
  6. jay leno was commenting last night about how the cardinals are locked inside the sistine chapel and that there is no cellphone reception there (the vatican is blocking it) to help preserve the secrecy of their proceedings. he said that if there was one group of people alive who were experts at protecting secrets, it was this group.
  7. took my daughter to her very first kings game last night. had a good time, but she was cold the entire game. it was colder than usual inside the building, even to me, but she endured. she'll bundle up better next time. kings were solid all around the first two periods, but the third period was all flames. they really cranked up the energy and most of the play was in the kings zone. kings didn't have much of an answer for them in the third, but quick was outstanding and they did just enough to win. playing that way against a good team will be a big problem. overall, it was a good win last night and got them to 30 points for the halfway point in the season. the way they started out, 30 points for the season looked like a big hill to climb. proud of what they've done, but still such a long, difficult way to go.
  8. "The groups said the decision by the Board of Health to approve the ban was overreaching and ignored the rights of New Yorkers to make their own choices. The plan is “grossly unfair” to small businesses such as hot-dog vendors and pizzerias because convenience and grocery stores can still sell the larger sizes, lawyers for the groups told Tingling during a hearing in January." there's a real interesting legal/social behavior aspect to this action, on both sides. the mayor is attempting to do something that at it's core is in the best interests of peoples' health by legislating a type of morality. the courts and the "hands off my bladder" side wants no restrictions, seemingly, regardless of the health issues involved, and cites the issue of fairness here.
  9. that was such an awesome movie. time to watch it again.
  10. kevin costner. dude hasn't done anything interesting in at least a decade.
  11. So you're all going to leave it up to the resident vegetarian here to suggest they were trying to make bacon flavored water? You guys are really slipping.
  12. How in the world has no one mentioned Sylvester Stallone yet, or the entire cast from Baywatch?
  13. Morning star farms makes a good griller.. Try popping that bad boy into a toaster instead of frying it and see what you think.
  14. So tell me about the veggie burger. Was it made by the restaurant or was it a garden burger? How did you like it?
  15. Brian, inside pitch, and I all were given a one-day ban or at least a warning back on our days on the aol message boards. It was April 1 and we each created fake names involving the name of one of their baseball moderators (some chick named moodier). We then proceeded to go several different teams' boards and bombarded them with our special brand of foolishness. I think I also got a handful of warnings there over the years.
  16. What about Duel, which I think was the name of spielbergs ristorante movie? Pretty good tension in that one.
  17. i don't know how i forgot to mention braveheart. it's an absolute remote dropper for me. same with band of brothers. i hope someone puts "the pacific" onto a cable station soon - i'd like to see it. would dances with wolves fit into this discussion? it was another brilliant movie, though not a traditional war movie. for a comedic slant, i'll throw steven spielberg's 1941 into the discussion. hilarious sendup of preparing for a possible japanese invasion of the california coast after pearl harbor.
  18. good call on SNL. dancing with the stars. abc pimps that thing like there's no tomorrow.
  19. what the . . . obviously you're suffering some kind of dimensia outbreak right now. you had best seek some help immediately. unless you want me to pay you a little visit and teach you a thing or two about respect.
  20. didn't even bother with it, though i remember it got positive reviews. if it had been re-cast and re-named "Being Judge Reinhold", it likely would set all kinds of crazy oscar records.
  21. i think drew barrymore and cameron diaz need at least an honorable mention here.
