i frequently side with police because of all the crap they have to put up with from people who are trying to break the law. i also recognize that give the difficulty of their profession, there are going to be some bad cops that exist. those few are not enough to affect my thinking that the clear and vast majority of officers are decent people. do you realize how much people antagonize the police? do you realize how many people have weapons and pose a threat to others? being a cop is one of the most stressful occupations. i respect the fact that they're the ones willing to go into the dark building or alley to protect my safety, and that carries a lot of weight with me.

"when killers collide, every bullet counts." i sure could have used that kind of knowledge when i was in singapore (long story, don't ask).

I think he should have obeyed the commands to drop his weapon when law enforcement officers told him to. I know nothing this kid, and neither did the police. They had no idea what his plan was. The police have seen enough kids that are already hardened at that age that are capable and willing to turn the gun at the cops. If he's not willing to drop his weapon when ordered, there will be dire consequences. I'm curious why you always side against police in these cases.

Can't post the picture here so I'll describe it. In the movie An Officer and a Gentleman (I think) there was a scene where the red haired guy was asked where he was from. "I'm from Texas." "There's only two things in Texas, boy, steers and queers, and I don't see no horns." I saw a car yesterday on the 210 that had a Texas Longhorns sticker . . . and an equal sign. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Our biggest theater in Glendale has those multi-soda dispensers (really, who's drinking raspberry sprite?). I usually go for water at a movie so I haven't tried it yet.
