for me, the pain was in my kidney - on my back left flank. hurt like nothing else i've had. went to the ER because the pain was so intense it was about to drop me to my knees. they took at CT scan and found it, a little tiny 1 mm stone. yep, that's all that it is, but the pain hurts like nothing else i've experienced. that's when i knew to get my butt to the ER. drinking lots and lots of water. dehydration has been an issue for me in the past, so i'm being very deliberate about getting in as much water as i can right now. haven't had the sensation to pee any more than usual, and haven't had any pain in that area. what i've read and been told by docs this week is that it hurts until it reaches the bladder because it move through such a small opening. once it hits the bladder, it passes out through a bigger tube. the doc also gave me flomax to make sure the highway was clearer for the stone to pass.
