  1. same exact thing happened here in glendale with our water usage. idiots.
  2. all very valid points, mt. granting them amnesty is going to have to come with a way to citizenship, and hopefully that increases the tax base. we're working with finite resources, and these new "americans" need to pay into the system. this is not the way i would have preferred things happen, but we need to make this work. i still think there ought to be some kind of modern ellis island for everyone to pass through. we need to establish who's here, and that includes them using their actual, real names.
  3. this is the part of the entire equation that is so positively baffling to me. we're just begging for trouble when there is no system in place to process people who are here or want to come here, or to secure the borders and prevent some really nasty people from coming in. i just don't get this approach.
  4. that must have been one amazing meal. did it include the tip?
  5. he was hanged, very publicly. whaddaya know, or are you just guessing outloud?
  6. i may have laughed at that comment a little too much, nate.
  7. clearly, there isn't anything this team can't do right now.
  8. NHL has suspended him indefinitely. character has been a big issue for this team. i don't imagine they're going to take something like this lightly. first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 1. i'm guessing they'll call up schultz to take his place for the time being.
  9. and as doc brown once said so very eloquently back in 1955, "since when can weather men predict the weather?"
  10. i'm pretty sure my name means "handsome conqueror".
  11. i don't give a two poops about chipotle, but my wife loves their food. they have some kind of veggie bowl with spiced tofu that she loves. i had a few bites of it and it wasn't bad. my brother likes it, too.
  12. i used to eat at del taco, but their selections were limited for me. what i really liked from them was the quesadilla. they used to put green chilies in it and it was fantastic. don't know when they stopped doing that, but it was a mistake to remove the chilies. outside of that, their food is very blah to me. i also haven't lived very close to one for quite a while, so it's an effort to get to one these days. i'd rather go somewhere else, like taco bell.
  13. people in beijing and shanghai have been wearing masks for a few years because the air pollution is so prolific there. i played golf at griffith park several years ago and there were some japanese guys wearing masks out on the course.
  14. i've seen this on my flights for the last couple of years. nothing new, though it might now be the SOP for all flight attendants as they pick up the plethora of trash left behind by inconsiderate passengers. seriously, people on planes are absolute pigs.
  15. i've had trouble really getting into recent comedians. to me, it doesn't seem like they're on tv as frequently as they used to be - at least, not on the channels or shows i watch. one of my favorite events every year used to be the montreal comedy festival every summer. i think HBO used to televise it, and it was a chance to see some really, really funny people. MTV used to have the half hour comedy hour, which was another great opportunity see comics. i'd like to add steven wright to my list. i also like kathleen madigan and nick dipaulo.
  16. quick has been standing on his head. it would be nice if the offense would help out some more by taking more than 6 shots per period, and if the defense could clear the zone more frequently.
  17. We ate at Sonic last night. I like their wide variety of food, plus they have great shakes. Their Chicago dog is pretty good, also.
  18. No one could tell a story like Cosby. No one. Dangerfield Seinfeld Steve Martin Tim Allen Jeff Foxworthy Bill Engvall George Carlin's early material Gary Shandling The Unknown Comic
  19. i've been in a bad mood all day. this news didn't help me any. i'm still pissed that the governator, who took office after gray davis tried to triple the car registration fee but upset so many people that he was recalled, ended up tripling the car registration fees shortly before he left office. it was a cheap, BS move on his part and it's cost all of us a ton more than it should. it'll also never be rescinded because we have crappy legislators in sacramento.
