You know what does speak volumes about your parenting? Ask yourself the following questions: Does your child have a compassionate soul? Does your child have a healthy dose of intellectual curiosity? Is your child resourceful and independent? Is your child happy with who she is? Can your child creatively problem-solve? Is your child passionate about anything? Can your child sit with himself and enjoy his own company? these are much more telling signs of your success or failure as a parent. focus on these things first and foremost.

well goodness, i'm really confused by the gold glove folks. first it was a defensive award. then it became more of a defensive acknowledgement after having a really good offensive year. now, i don't have any idea what it is.

i think a positive out of this is that it made our healthcare providers assess where they were in regards to how to treat something like this. nothing wrong with that. i think it also made us be a bit more vigilant. nothing wrong with that, either. as far as how the media reacted to this, i'd like to believe that they were trying to raise public awareness and to keep our eyes open. but the media's credibility in serving the public good disappeared a long, long time ago, so their overreaction shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
