    not going to be able to make it. i still have a lot of pain and about 20 staples in my gut. not gonna lie - it's a bit tough. but i have good pain killers and lots of love and support from people all over. my best to all of you, and i hope someone takes lots of pictures.

    man, what an awful story. hard to see the parents just dive in to his bank account like that. deals with less than reputable people? how does that happen with parents? always like jack. hope he lands on his feet. can't imagine he'll be spending much more time with his parents outside of court appearances.

    when they wheeled me into the OR yesterday, i noticed a big white board on the wall that looked like scoreboard for hospital supplies. everything was labeled and was just waiting for a count to be added.

    i think any awareness is a good thing. i wish more of these charities would spend the money on research instead of administration, though i understand salaries are necessary. i have a friend who's dieing of ALS. taught two of his daughters. they were glad for all the attention last summer about it, even though it's likely too late for their dad to benefit from it.

    the game this coming sunday between the jets and bills in buffalo is in jeopardy of being rescheduled. they have approximately 220 tons of snow that need to be moved (or is it 220,000?) in order for the field and the stands to be cleared. they're offering fans $10 an hour plus a free ticket if they show up with a shovel to help clear the stadium.

    that was me yesterday. didn't like having to go commando, but if that's what my dentist requires, who am i to argue?

    in trying to get my IV started yesterday, the nurse used three shots of lidocaine, three different IV kits, and about 6 swaps to wipe my skin. won't get the bill for a while, but all i could think was "that's probably about $150 of material right there."

    what i've learned in this thread is that you're pissed but not bitter, and that you apparently have a fair amount of disposable income.

    the pictures coming out of buffalo and the massive amount of snowfall they've already had is pretty impressive. somewhere around 70".
