  1. we've used rice milk for the last fifteen years.
  2. fair enough. so would you have gone to see this in a theater?
  3. i have no doubt this ad was targeted at stickboy.
  4. i understand the point completely, but it only takes one incident for this to become another nightmare. would you have risked going to see it in a theater? what if this group proves to be every bit as violent as they've threatened to be? i understand the slippery slope here, but in this case with so many unknowns, i don't think it unreasonable to error on the side of caution. sony can still make their money from this movie in other ways and find ways to get their products into people's hands without putting them at nearly so much risk.
  5. how much do we know about this group that hacked sony's computers and is making the threats? do they have a history of committing violence against people? is it really the north koreans? for me, there are too many unknowns about this group. i wasn't planning on seeing the movie, but i'd hate to see another mass shooting.
  6. i think with the threat of attacks, you have to look honestly at what's in the best interest of your customers. what a PR nightmare it would be if the movie was released and some nut job went into one of the theaters showing it and opened fire, killing dozens of people. i think the best thing sony could do to save face is release it on dvd asap, put it on netflix or itunes for free for a week, and get it on hbo/showtime etc. as soon as possible. they would still reach their target audience without anyone's safety being jeopardized.
  7. thanks, adam. i knew someone had to have an answer for this. is rub-n-tug anything like the old pup-n-taco?
  8. sully = captain jack sparrow i re-read your story in a pirate voice and it sounded much, much better.
  9. we've got a real quandry over this as a country. when the president and the congress are different parties, the stalemates reach epic proportions and nothing constructive really seems to get accomplished. if the prez and congress were both from the same party, the fear is that they'll go crazy with their agenda and we'll suffer because of it. we have a real catch-22 on this, and it's a good reason for why we need a third party.
  10. they keep trotting out that dude that's won something like $60k. i keep wondering how much he had to spend to win that amount.
  11. this post has me wondering about how easy/difficult it is to emigrate to canada.
  12. boy they looked crappy last night. carter hasn't scored a goal in 12 games. had a perfect point blank chance last night in the third and got stoned, which turned out to be their only SOG in the third period. they don't look very good right now. and then those butt-ugly uniforms were introduced yesterday, and that probably made them feel worse about themselves. i don't think we've seen white pants in hockey since the washington capitals first season back in the early 70s.
  13. without making contracts incentive based, how would you do this?
  14. in my proposal, i included several team-based incentives to try and avoid guys going out there and just focusing on themselves. i realize it's not a perfect solution i've offered, but it's a starting point. there clearly would have to be a great deal of discussions to address some of the things you've brought up. i'm not really sure how your'd compensate for intangibles like leadership. maybe each team should have a captain and two associate captains like hockey, and there would be financial compensation for being appointed to those positions.
  15. 1. there will always be players who try to find ways to beat the system. being diligent is the best way to combat that. 2. in my proposal i also included several team-based incentives, because ultimately, it's a team game and how your team performs should matter to everyone. the better your team performs, the more financial incentive there is for each member of the team. it's not a perfect proposal, but i think there's merit in it and worth starting a discussion.
  16. saw something about them on tv. was fascinated by the way they cook their steaks and would gladly go there if the opportunity came up.
  17. "Bruno Serato came to the U.S. with just $200 in his pocket, worked his way up from dishwasher, and is now the owner of the Anaheim White House Restaurant. For the last ten years, he has worked to improve the lives of motel kids. His non-profit foundation, Caterina's Club, feeds 1,200 poor kids a day with meals cooked in his restaurant kitchen between lunch and dinner, meals delivered by van to nineteen different after-school programs in seven Orange County cities. Through Caterina's Club, Serato has initiated a new program to cover the costs of security deposits needed to move families out of motels. The Welcome Home program selects from a pool of applications for assistance, targeting working families who just need that extra help. Serato himself is not a rich man. During the recession, he had to take out a second mortgage to keep his food program running. But there's more than one way to feel rich. With the help of donors, Serato has placed 65 families into their own homes." standing ovation for bruno serato. i love hearing stories like this.
  18. LB, when you're trying to arrest a suspect and they won't cooperate, what options does an arresting have available, generally speaking? to me, that's been an unanswered issue in the garner case.
  19. i figured this would happen within a week of castro kicking the bucket, so i'm a bit surprised it's happening now. it's going to be weird to see new cars in cuba. they've been driving 1950s era chevys for decades because of the trade embargo. the story is that getting replacement parts for their cars was so difficult that many car owners took to finding ways of making their own parts. if i owned a vintage chevy parts plant, i'd be pretty happy about the normalizing of relations with havana.
  20. yeah, i can't really argue with choosing nolan. he spends more and more games up in the press box. he's nice insurance if someone goes down, but if you can flip him for a prospect, you have to listen.
  21. i think it's simply a matter of putting in your time. there's a base salary that you start at in any occupation, be it teaching, firefighter, lawyer, mechanic, or baseball player. the longer you stay with it and the more you improve, the more you get paid. i don't think merely by being a baseball player you should automatically get paid more as you begin your career.
