  1. don't worry, fan. hilary will fix everything.
  2. i don't think $15 an hour as an entry level job is a good idea. $10 may not be enough, but $15 strikes me as too much as a starting point. my POV is that working at a job that pays minimum wage is not going to become a lifelong career unless you plan to go into some type of management position. whether or not we want it to be so, we need places that sell cheaply priced food because we have people that can't afford nicer places. to jump the minimum wage of mcdonalds workers (for example) up to $15 an hour is going to eventually affect the price of their food, and that's going to impact the people who eat there regularly because it's affordable. i see the potential for financial complications with this plan to jump the minimum wage by so much.
  3. i'm having lunch with him tomorrow. i'll see what i can find out, including any info about his base stealing for this coming season. i'll also ask him about who the girl is as she's been in several of his pictures recently.
  4. one of the very last guys to play without a helmet.
  5. 2 year ban, effective immediately.
  6. the same thing he does every week . . . nothing.
  7. Have any of watched video of any of the beheadings? I tried to once but just couldn't stick around.
  8. eventually we're all going to end up on obamacare, so they better get it fixed soon.
  9. we should have sent someone there. the french are important allies, and this would have been a good time to show them some support, especially considering all the other people/leaders who showed up. makes us look sloppy.
  10. unless someone asks the question "how badly did the angels suck in the early 90s?"
  11. i dare you to go to virginia and call him bob.
  12. when we had the northridge earthquake in '94, senator robert byrd of west virginia attached a rider to the emergency relief bill asking for $10 million for a new transportation center in his home state. his rider was one of many that made their way on to a bill to help people who were devastated by a huge disaster. this is wrong, but i get that it's how the system has evolved ("hey i'll vote for your earthquake bill if you'll add my rider for $xxx for a new _________ in my state"). byrd was a crooked old man and i was so upset with what he did that i wrote him a strongly worded letter of protest. i never mailed it because he struck me as the kind of guy that would give the IRS a call and ask how my taxes looked for the last ten years.
  13. we have a cleaning woman come in once a month. she charges $80. we don't tip her. one time her daughter came with her to help and she managed to clean out about $20 bucks of change out of our change cup. hope she enjoyed it.
  14. their schedule got tougher as the season wore on, and that's when they were at their best. their last three games - big 10 championship, sugar bowl, and the championship game - were played brilliantly against very tough competition. it should end any arguments about them.
  15. That's what they get for wearing Raiders uniforms tonight.
  16. couldn't agree more, vegas. i think this year's playoffs really validated the idea and gave us the two best teams in the championship game.
  17. probably someone who's about to retire, maybe even voluntarily.
  18. "If we could get Congress to break its bad, unconstitutional habit of tossing money to state and local governments, the federal budget would shrink substantially. For FY 2015, those outlays will be $640 billion in grants plus more than $60 billion more in administrative costs. Eliminating that would approximately balance the budget, but we should still enact a balanced budget amendment to restrain spending growth in areas where Congress actually does have authority."
