  1. once they were angels is terrific. would recommend to all of you. in looking over the baseball books i've read, my list is surprisingly small. i've read ball four but wasn't as enamored by it as most. it was interesting, no doubt. i also liked johnny bench's biography. i think it's called behind the plate. read it when i was a teenager, which was a very long time ago. don't really recall any stories but it was a good read.
  2. i'm going to have to word my sentences more clearly. LOL.
  3. watching dr. king's "i have a dream" speech today with the 8th graders. what a great speaker. there's a point at the end of the speech where he abandons his script and the preacher in him takes over. pretty powerful stuff.
  4. seems like this man wants companionship. i'd take him out to a nice dinner as a thank you and let him continue to see the cat.
  5. i don't think i've seen any of the major films and their nominees this year, so if anyone has all of these movies on DVD, i'd appreciate if you'd loan them to me for a binge weekend of watching. thanks.
  6. justin williams has broken off contract extension talks. not sure what it means for his future, but would like to see him stick around another couple of years. defense was just standing around watching the devils last night. this keeps happening too often this year, and their overall record is under .500 because they're not taking care of business in front of quick and jones as we've grown accustomed to seeing. attitude? competency? missing voynov and mitchell? indifference? not sure how you fix this, but they need to address it soon or they'll be watching everyone else in the playoffs.
  7. this is very true. when we would visit family in southern nebraska during Christmas time, we'd occasionally make trips down to st. joseph, missouri. the number of chiefs jackets out in public was very impressive, like it was halftime during a game and people were out running a quick errand before the second half resumed.
  8. i think it'll be NE and sea, but i'm sure hoping rodgers and the packers can silence that annoying 12th man in seattle. Go Pack!
  9. I'm TeedOff. you all are going down.
  10. wait a sec, i thought bill clinton put a limit on how long people could stay on welfare (i want to say somewhere around 18 months, though that may be wrong). when did this change? and why wouldn't congress put some kind of incentive to get off of welfare?
  11. the alligator was seized by animal control and is now in the zoo.
  12. i think ours has been members only. i think i'll ask my pastor what our policy is on this. you've got me curious.
  13. that pass to brown to score the first goal was like a seeing eye single. couldn't have been placed more perfectly.
  14. saw him get injured but didn't hear until today that it's a broken ankle. man, that blows. hope his recovery goes well and we can see him again this season.
  15. he said he's not going on the mount until vic venasky is included. on this, there can be no compromise.
  16. man, what a tough position to be in. i think the competitor in me would want to get back in the game asap. playing well would more than adequately compensate for any insurance money that would no longer come in. he was fun to watch and had a very promising career. i hope he works it out and comes back to the tour.
  17. 30+ years later and that's still a sweet looking ride.
  18. whaddaya wanna bet mom and dad are also his financial advisors?
  19. i went to college in norcal. when kids up there would ask me where i lived, i told them the south bay (torrance, hawthorne, redondo beach area). UNIVERSALLY, they all responded by saying "oh, down by vallejo?" numbskulls for sure, but even people in norcal are geographically challenged about our own state. it made perfect marketing sense for arte to change the name. i just wish now (as i wished then) that the "of anaheim" part didn't sound so dorky. unfortunately, that hasn't changed.
  20. the distinction between the two was lost in the 90s when the strongly republican orange county elected liberal democrat loretta sanchez to congress. any difference between the two was destroyed at that point.
  21. 30? seriously? LOL. "hey kid, 30 catches in your college career is enough. go for it!"
  22. i wouldn't have been bothered at all by having biden there.
