while coming home from the one direction concert in san diego thursday night/friday morning, we hit a stretch of the 5 by camp pendleton, about where they have the immigration checkpoint. traffic slowed down to a stop, and this was at 12:45 am. i thought it odd for that late at night but figured it would move quickly. boy was i wrong.
two (*&^^&%$_ hours and five miles later, traffic returned to normal. the reason for the two hour delay? they had shut down three lanes of traffic for construction and it took forever for people to merge. when we finally got to where it had shut down to just one lane, there was not a single caltrans vehicle or worker, nor was there any freakin' sign of work being done, having been done, or about to be done. nothing. nada. zip. we lost two bloody hours for absolutely nothing. i was ready to spit nails.
we finally got back home at 5 am. it took us four hours. i'd like to nuke caltrans right now.
