Yep. Everybody has to stick to the script. They also have to say things like they'll reach across the aisle because it plays well in the nightly sound bites.

The purpose of stuff like this sometimes is simply to get an idea into people's heads, like "I can see Russia from my house." It becomes something people remember, regardless of its truth, and it never seems to go away. Ten months from now you'll still hear people repeating how Carson lied to get into West Point because it's stuck in their memory, truth be damned.

Just watched both of the videos. Who knew that college kids could so easily lose their mud over something like this. What a wimpy generation of whiners.

Been to Philly once. Saw the tourist stuff, but my buddy suggested we go shoot some pool. So we found a pool hall and played for a while. The cigar smell was strong and I felt like I was in a movie. Drove through some really poor neighborhoods, too. Saw one place where they played basketball by nailing a storage crate up on a wooden power pole and removed the bottom of it so the ball would drop through.

The magic bullet is pure crap. There were bullet fragments still in Connolly's wrist when he died, fragments his widow wouldn't allow to be removed, but if you look at the bullet, there aren't any fragments missing (though there is a perfect hole that appears to have been drilled in one end).

a weird game all around. the kings didn't play poorly, but they sure didn't play well. didn't seem to be on the same page with each other. columbus likes to goon it up against us, and it seems to work for them. hartnell is a dick, and i thought it would have been a perfect night for lucic to go after him and kick his tail. lucic needs to do something to connect with the fans. it felt like fans wanted to cheer for him, but he looks so terribly blase out there, and my brother and i were both reminded of dustin penner. lucic just doesn't seem to have much zip or passion when he skates. he's not a bad player at all, but he was more aggressive in boston, and that part of his game really isn't present right now.
