  1. i don't think you're going to convince anyone to join you, AJj, especially people who like to keep the money they've worked hard to earn.
  2. i realize it's fraught with problems. there would obviously need to be some very, very narrow limits on how/when it's used, and by whom. But if it could help prevent a disaster, what do you do? i'm very torn between the right to privacy and the right to prevent a catastrophy, and i'm not really sure where to draw the line on this.
  3. bubba is pure fun to watch. he plays like one of us, except with talent, and you can't argue with his results. i love that he has never had a lesson. that's pretty darn impressive.
  4. if there is a criminal case for bullying, drunk driving, or texting and driving, i have no problem with the police using someone's phone in the process of gathering evidence. a divorce case is more of a civil issue, so i wouldn't feel comfortable unless there's evidence laws were broken. i think it's important to note here that we're talking about cracking the phone of a mass murderer, not someone random from the mall. cracking the phone in a criminal case doesn't upset me.
  5. ohio state usually beats their goofy football team, so there's that.
  6. this would apply to anyone who's still in the race. that's what you meant, right?
  7. "one year from now, gitmo will be closed!" i think we heard that repeatedly in 2008.
  8. report on the news tonight says that san berdoo was supposed to install some kind of software on the phone they issued farook that would have allowed the county to have access. oops.
  9. picture this scenario: someone in florida commits a san berdoo-style attack. the FBI catches him and gets into his phone, and finds a whole treasure trove of communications and plans that he made with farook to carry out this attack in orlando. by cracking farook's phone, they could have prevented the attack in florida, arrested this terrorist, and saved the lives of 43 people. what then?
  10. i'm having lunch with him on tuesday. i'll see what i can find out.
  11. That ending was terrific. Kenseth took too high a line and it cost him dearly. Kudos to Hamlin for some excellent driving.
  12. Yeah, that would be a huge problem for them.
  13. Terrifying. Shooting random people for no reason has got to be every city's nightmare scenario.
  14. I seem to recall us fighting in some kind of war to help liberate Europe in the 1940s. Can't remember the name of it, however.
  15. So wouldn't it stand to reason that the tech guy can now access the phone with the reset code?
  16. ha, i was just going to post something like that, blarg.
  17. i have a good amount of classical music, including some opera. i went to the three tenors concert at dodger stadium in '94 and enjoyed it very much. listen to whatever you like, as long as we can all agree on one thing: rap sucks.
  18. i had two impacted wisdom teeth extracted while i was awake. i went to an angels game that night.
