  6. thanks, those were fascinating. i bookmarked the page. his style is very similar to my favorite sports writer, allan malamud. he had a column titled "notes on a scorecard" that ran 3-4 times per week in the LA Herald Examiner. Loved that column so much that when i went away to college in norcal, i bought a subscription so i could continue reading it. "Leonardo da Vinci knew how to make the camera. He just didn't know how to make the film. If you want to discipline youngsters the way the Iroquois did theirs, don't spank them, dunk them in water." cipline youngsters the way the Iroquois did theirs, don't spank them, dunk them in wate

  9. the more of my money the gov't takes, the more power and control they have over me. i have zero interest in that happening. i don't want to be dependent on the gov't for everything.
  10. BJs has a really great pizookie. I don't know anyone who doesn't like one of them, unless they're from mother russia.
  11. i appreciated that his teammates let him shoot so much. this was certainly the time for it. tuned in during the first half and saw he had 21 already and thought "nice, he'll be able to drop 30 in his final game. what a nice way to end." he found some kind of other-worldly gear for the second half, plus his teammates let him take over. was a fun thing to watch. i enjoyed how friendly he was in the post-game press conference. that's a side to him we haven't seen very much. got a chuckle out of him saying that maybe now his girls will believe he was good since they saw this kind of game in person and not just hear about it or see stuff on youtube.
  12. Lundqvist took a stick to his eye. It was from his own guy, too. Just one of those freak things.
  13. Ha, his final thing in a game is an assist. Lol.
  14. i prefer berries, nate. let the peasants and lesbos eat salad.
  15. i saw one on ebay for $28 so was hoping you might be somewhere near that. the toughest part of this transaction will be you finding the time to drive in from victorville and take me to lunch. but don't worry, my schedule is pretty open on sundays.
  16. favorite concert by myself was seeing The New Seekers at magic mountain. if you're old enough to remember the dolphin show they had at the park, they also had a some kind of theater back in that area, and that's where they performed. this was the group that sang "i'd like to teach the world to sing", which was used for a very successful coca cola advertising campaign in the mid-70s. i was in jr. high when i saw them. two favorite concerts with my wife: first, eElton John at the forum in '92. we sat to the side of the stage up in the colonnade, but not too high. had a perfect view of everything, including part of backstage. it was a fun show and my first time to see him. second one was seeing Billy Joel at the anaheim pond in '99. my wife was about 6 months pregnant. billy played all the songs you'd want to hear, and he put on a great show. favorite concert with my daughter was the most recent time we saw One Direction. it was on hollywood blvd outside the jimmy kimmel show on the street. we were about 30 feet from the stage. melissa mccarthy was about 10 feet away from us, and harry styles waved at both me and my daughter. the fun part is seeing how much she enjoyed herself.
  17. one of the best story tellers we've been privileged to hear over the years. he's witnessed so much baseball history, and he's been good at talking about it in ways that keep us interested.
  18. yeah, this was a pretty ugly case of cyber bullying. can't remember seeing anything this harsh. one of the things we've all seen with the proliferation of social media is it's revealed that a lot of people no longer have very much discernment or embarrassment.
  19. the three kids who wrote/sent the text were all members of the honor society, emphasis on were. the girls was also a class officer, something that was also removed from her.
