  1. and my question is why? we had three spiderman movies with toby maguire and then two more with that british dude who was screwed over by Facebook. why another restart on a series that has barely had time to collect dust?
  2. saturday was a terrible day for scoring points for most of us. didn't watch, but saw the scores last night and figured they had weather problems or suddenly everyone started playing left-handed.
  3. it's always the women, brewer. still amazed to see that snedeker is still third on the fedex cup points list. third!!
  4. just got back from seeing captain america: civil war. good movie and i enjoyed it, though i sat a little too close (row 4) to appreciate the headache-inducing hands-cam. neither my brother nor i enjoy seeing the heroes fight with each other. it certainly helps create needed tension in the movie and leads to the obvious and pivotal parts in the film, but i hope it'll be resolved in the next episode. i like the characters of red wing, black panther, and the chick with the forcefield thingy, but we don't know much about their stories. i imagine that'll be addressed when they get their own films in the next few years, assuming that's what happens. adding spiderman and ant man were good ideas. spiderman had the best line of the movie when he told tony stark "i can't go to germany. i have homework." however, i'm not very interested in their proclamation that spiderman "will be back." the last thing we need is yet another restart to the spiderman series. but then again, if marisa tomei reprises her role as aunt may, it might make it worth seeing.
  5. last night i caught the last 40 minutes of anchorman 2. wow, it was absolutely crap-tastic. what a spectacular waste of time and talent. glad it was on the epix free preview weekend.
  6. i've never used uber or lyft, so it's bee n interesting to read through this thread. sounds like these services could at some point turn taxis into being as desirable as a greyhound bus.
  7. My men's chorus is hosting this cruise, and besides singing on board the ship, we have a mission project arranged at each port. Bailing is not an option.
  8. We have a 7th grader whose mom wants to use uber to take her daughter home from school. We told her no, and the mom is apparently still pissed at us for denying the request. This started last year when the girl was in sixth grade. This is virgin territory, but I imagine the biggest issue would be liability if the school released the girl to a non-relative/family friend, and then something happened to the girl while in the drivers care.
  9. TB really manhandling the Pens tonight. TB lost Bishop in goal. I'm thinking its a knee injury.
  10. Yeah, snedeker isn't right. Neither is duffner. im really starting to worry about Spieth, too. Not handling the pressure? Too many distractions?
  11. this team is going nowhere this season. it's certainly a low risk move, but is it necessary? does he make us a contender? i don't see that we need him. that said, back in prep for the 2010 all star game, i was one of the volunteers. my job on the friday before the game was to be at the stadium and represent one of the players so that the technical crew could do a dry run of the player inroductions, coordinate video, and all that. i was jose reyes, and it was a blast. got to hang out in the visitors dugout during breaks. the best part is that i am almost his identical twin. those of you who know me can vouch for this claim. in my heart, he's been angel since that infamous friday.
  12. i wouldn't trade trout now, but if things continue (like this year is likely go) for the next year or two, you have to consider it.
  13. people at the gas station who pull up to the pump on their left side, but their gas tank is on the right side of their car.
  14. well, it is an historic gun. george told us so himself.
  15. going on a cruise next month, and one of our stops is cozumel. unfortunately we'll only be there about ten hours or so, so i won't get to see or do much. hope the weather is nice and that we get a cool breeze.
  16. "Nevadans will get a break through Dec. 29 with free-self parking for up to 24 hours. To get the benefit, drivers will have to scan their driver's license at the gate. Absher said the company only scans the driver's license barcode to ensure it's valid and does not access any personal information." annnnd here we go.
  17. are they losing money in their casinos or something? charging guests to park is terribly offensive (and completely unnecessary). if you own a casino in vegas on the strip and you aren't turning a profit, you're doing it wrong and should sell immediately. look at all of the properties on the strip owned by MGM (i counted 12): "The per-day fee for self-parking will be $8 and valet parking will be $13 a day at Monte Carlo, Luxor and Excalibur. Circus Circus valet will also charge $13 a day while self-parking will remain free. MGM's higher-end properties, including the Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Mirage and New York-New York, will charge $10 for self-parking and $18 for valet parking per day. The Vdara and Delano, which do not offer self-park, also will charge the higher rate for valet."
  18. golf channel had an interview with the course superintendent. they're replacing all of the greens next week, but they want to make sure that they roll nicely and quickly this week. he sounded like they may cut them a tad shorter than usual, but they'll also put some water on them to keep their integrity. rory had it going on the back nine this morning. still trying to figure out the scoring as he shot 64 but i only got 18 points instead of 20.
  19. from the article: A 24-year-old kid just broke up a perfect game being tossed by a former All-Star, and did so by launching a 450-foot monster of a home run out of Wrigley Field. It was just the fifth home run of his career and you’re pissed he happened to watch where it landed? Bethancourt wasn’t trying to show anyone up, he was watching something he may never see again and relishing the moment. He didn’t stare down Lackey or talk to him or even gesture in the veteran’s direction, he just watched. It was completely acceptable given the situation.
  20. Kopitar has steadily been as good as they come in the league. While Kessler might have had a terrific season, Kopitar consistently plays this way, and it's time for him to be recognized.
  21. The Sharks forechecking can absolutely choke a team into countless mistakes. They swarm like no team I can remember, and it feels like they've got 8 skaters out there. The Kings didn't have an answer for it, and neither did the Preds tonight. If the Sharks play this same way against the Blues, they'll be very tough to beat. go Blues!
  22. i hope john lackey has a ferd - nevermind.
