    Yep, still lots of concerns about the water cleanliness and now the Zika virus. with all the major golf tournaments around the world, the olympics isn't that big a deal (at least not to me). Not the same for several of the other sports, however.

    Would be interesting to know how many potential terrorist attacks have been stopped in advance here. We've heard enough times how so-and-so was on some watch list but still managed to pull off his attack anyway.

    at this point it would be like closing the barn door after the horse has left. short of us completely walking away from everything we're involved in in the middle east, something that seems impossible to do, ISIS has too much skin in the game to just say "that's it, we're no longer going after the great satan. come on, boys, let's go home." the fact that they've got (presumably) sleeper cells all over europe and the US says they're not going to give up any time soon.

    I think there's an alarming (and growing) number of people with a "hell no, not on my watch!" kind of attitude.

    in '08 we were wary of whites from the former confederates states of being horribly racist and potentially dangerous to Obama and his supporters. They weren't. This election has shown us that there's apparently a lot more anger towards brown people, and that there are plenty of Americans who are willing to speak up about it.
