still have not red TKAM. the time i spend online has taken over time i used to spend reading. haven't quite found a way to balance all of it yet. brad meltzer intrigues me. i've known he was an author, but haven't read any of his stuff yet because of his tv show on the history channel. his tv show is rather low-brow and i dont really care for their conclusions or how "oh, that means JFK was having an affair" kind of approach. have been afraid his books would be the same kind of quality.

one of my favorite MVP awards was to kirk gibson in '88. Gibson came in and changed the culture of that locker room. while there were others that put up better stats - including hershiser's historic season - that dodger team needed someone to lead them and to do so in a big, bold way. it started in training camp when jesse orosco put the shoe black in gibby's hat as a joke, but gibson would have none of it. gibson put up decent numbers, nothing trout-like, but that '88 team wouldn't have come anywhere near the playoffs without him and his influence leading them. and that's something that sheer numbers could not reflect. i like that this award is not based purely on stats. that's what the Aaron Award is for.

i think that's the missing part of this entire equation. time to get married, TORS. i hear russian brides are lovely this time of year.

when i was a kid we would eat it often enough. put a little lawry's seasoning salt on it and it was tolerable. we would even put it on toast that way once in a while. it's in a casserole that my wife makes and it's hardly noticeable there.
