  1. this thread started with a picture of someone with extreme views. someone else posted a trump picture in response to the idea of how could someone like that appeal to so many. i posted the pic of hillary for the exact same reason. she was a seriously flawed candidate, like trump, and she was more of the same ol' status quo candidate. i didn't find anything appealing about her.
  2. boy, that was the first thing i thought of when seeing his picture on the home page. no doubt he'll be our catcher for the next decade.
  3. awesome. i hope you weren't the one responsible for teaching him how to sing.
  4. big thanks to GB for getting into his foursome yesterday at brookside. had a fun time and his friends were a lot of fun. we played the Nay course, which is shorter and the easier of the two courses there. the men's club had a tournament yesterday, which caused a huge slowdown on tee times. we were the first group after the tournament guys played and we were delayed by an hour. the driving range was packed full so i couldn't get in any warm up. that said, we got going and i have more rust to deal with than i thought. my driving was pretty decent on most holes, and my three wood was pretty solid. my irons aren't traveling as far as they should, plus i kept coming up out of too many iron shots and skulled it badly. my chipping is also pretty bad because that relies more on touch, and i just don't have much of that right now. putting was decent, and i ended my round with a nice little right-to-left downhill putt of about 15 feet right smack in the center of the cup on 18. i ended up shooting 108, but was pleased that i lasted all 18 holes and that i had some good/decent shots. GB has game, and he's got quite a bit of it. he shot 81 yesterday and could have gone lower. he'll tell you it was hit putting, and he'll be right. his iron play was pretty solid, and he had the softest hands when he was giving me a post-game rub down.
  5. war of the worlds, part 2? i started watching Man in the High Castle and have enjoyed it so far. I'll start paying a bit more attention to the music knowing there's now a station that plays it. thnx.
  6. you sidetracked this thread for no good reason. you complain way too much.
  7. this might be my favorite post from you, cals. well done.
  8. We used to watch Chicago Fire but lost interest when someone threatened to close the firehouse every other episode.
  9. Nice to see Wesley snipes again. It's been awhile.
  10. He was also the football coach in Revenge of the Nerds. he deserves a star just for putting up with Roseanne all those years.
  11. cez has really taken this election hard. he used to be fun to read, but now he posts like his world has completely burned turned on its ear.
  12. boy are you in for some surprises the next time you come to an aw.com gathering.
  13. i was working at the VIP lounge during all star weekend in 2010, and my awesome assignment was to help take HOFers from the VIP lounge in the hotel to transportation downstairs so they could go to the fan fest and sign autographs, etc. There was a lounge set aside for the players and we were strictly told it was not a place for the volunteers to hang out, though we needed to go there when it was time to escort someone. We helped guys like Lou Brock, Gary Carter, Juan Marichal, Luis Aparicio, and some others. When called, I went to the lounge and was waiting for Aparicio. Was just standing there minding my own business around a couple of people I didn't recognize. One of them was a bald guy, and he looked at me and called me by name, asking how I was doing and just being a pleasant guy. Took me way too long to realize it was Wally Joyner, and he was calling me by name. I felt like an idiot for not figuring out it was him. I recovered quickly enough to chat with him a bit and let him know how much of a fan I'd been, and how I wished he would have played his entire career with us. What a nice guy he was, and really easy to talk to.
  14. good win in OT vs. the preds. another good game tonight vs. washington. Kempe scores his first career goal on a beauty of a shot. defense really shuts down the caps offense, and they get goals from Kopi, Gaborik, and Carter. solid game tonight. Now we just need calgary and st. louis to start sucking a bit lot.
  15. what, one can't enjoy a nice kale and brussel sprouts salad with cranberries and almonds while watching the ponies? bunch a friggin' barbarians, all of you.
