  1. This week, my prostate has been one happy camper. Thanks, Maui!
  2. Blah blah blah. They should just play Hansen Dam.
  3. We're going snorkeling at Molokini. It was recommended by a couple of friends so that's where we're going for this trip. We'll see how well it goes. btw, I'm only taking recommendations here if they were given to you by an insanely hot boat captain. Anything less than that is just unacceptable.
  4. Had as good a day as you could expect on vacation. Wife went down to the pool to get lounge chairs in the shade while I walked to the local village shops and bought breakfast and lunch to bring back. Put our lunches in our room fridge and then took our breakfast down to eat at poolside. Swam in the pool until about 1:00, including a very brief dip in the ocean where one of us had to relieve themselves, then came back up to our room for a "nap" and lunch. Had dinner at a really nice place on a lagoon overlooking the ocean at sunset within the resort. Just a completely relaxing, enjoyable day. my daughter and brother arrive tomorrow and we'll head the the Maui Beach Club for the next six days before returning home. Going snorkeling/snuba on Monday. Will check out several of your recommendations for lunch/dinner. Going to stop by Kapalua Golf Course but only to go into the pro shop and grab a souvenir or two. This is the kind of place I'd love to return to each year. Found out our garden view room is five bills per night, so that'll pretty much end any debate (we're probably the poorest people in the resort this week) about returning here. Hopefully there are other, more affordable places to stay on this island so we can come back. So beautiful here.
  5. How is it he hasn't reduced his carbon footprint?!? He doesn't need to live as frugally as one of the anti-gov't nutjobs in Montana, but for crying out loud, get your crap together, Al, you hypocrite.
  6. There's a small art gallery here inside the Grand Wailea and one of the features is some really amazing photography. Talked to the shop keeper and he said the photographer is a local guy who uses this rare, super expensive camera that costs $55k (not a typo - probably bought it at the resort gift shop). @red321, do you know what kind of camera this would be and have you ever seen one?
  7. I'm doing snuba on Monday and there's an option to rent a camera. Yay or nay? This is new territory for me.
  8. So yes or no on the cherry tomatoes with a slice of dead iconic French chef? I apologize for not knowing the protocol on this one.
  9. You're very welcome. keep your eye open for a FedEx package in a day or two.
  10. Red strikes me more as a "hmm, I don't have a ladder but maybe this wobbly table and three-legged chair will do the trick" kind of guy.
  11. Yep, he's been his own worst enemy. part of me would advocate for his reinstatement to baseball the day after he dies, and then the hall can do whatever it wants. But the fact that MLB STILL hasn't reinstated Shoeless Joe, with pretty good evidence that he wasn't involved in the WS scandal, doesn't bode well for Rose. MLB needs to reinstate Shoeless Joe. He belongs in the Hall.
  12. That's it, flop. I challenge you to a duel!
  13. Except Mays did it in a WS game, where there's no kind of pressure or national media spotlight or anything major like a meaningless mid-summer game in KC, the media capital of the world.
  14. Just never got around to it. It was more violent than I anticipated but I don't think you could have made that movie with less. Gibson did a good job telling the story. As a kid, I knew of Desmond Doss because he was esteemed so highly by our church, and because it was such a compelling story. However, this is the first time I actually saw/read his story. Before the movie was released, an Adventist pastor was talking about it. Doss said he saved about 50 people while the army claimed he saved about 100 (or vice versa). They apparently compromised and settled on 75 as the official number.
  15. On the flight to Maui I watched Hidden Figures and Hacksaw Ridge. Both movies were excellent and I recommend them both highly.
  16. The resort offers a free diving clinic and I'm doing that Wednesday morning. The company that does this also offers an opportunity to go on a dive. If it isn't stupidly expensive, I just might go. Won't know until the clinic is finished. next Monday we're going snorkeling and I'm going to do snuba. Looking forward to it, especially since my daughter will be with us us, and she didn't get to snorkel during her senior trip back in March. Even my wife is going to give it a shot.
  17. Has to be approved by USOC and the IOC officially in September, but should breeze right through.
  18. Thanks. I think we're staying in/near Lahaina starting on Friday, so we'll be looking for places to eat.
