in college, we made up limericks about several faculty members. One of the funniest things we ever did.

had a tough day today. My mom is not doing well - she has a sciatica issue and it's wreaking havoc with her. We had to take her to the ER today. They put her on some new meds and by tonight she was much, much better. We had some stressful moments this afternoon trying to get her some help - she was a nurse, and you know how doctors make the worse patients? That trickles down to nurses, too, apparently. She's better tonight by leaps and bounds, and we're thankful for that. After getting her home this afternoon, I got home to find a jury duty notice beginning Dec. 26. Nice work on the scheduling, Scrooge.

alex johnson, former angels batting champion. bonds, arod, reggie, canseco, and clemens. in high school, some guy in the red sox system was visiting someone he knew on our campus that summer. we played some pickup BB in the gym, and this guy was a total and complete a-hat. not sure i've ever met someone as arrogant as him. fortunately, i don't think this doosh ever made it to the show.

i'll be honest . . . sometimes stuff like this can have a positive effect for kids. working with middle school kids, there are plenty of them that have issues with self-confidence and their looks. sometimes a message about finding inner strength can be uplifting and helpful for them (and not in a 'here's a participation trophy for being beautiful' kind of way).
