  1. here are some options you may want to consider:
  2. someone help me understand how firing sosh makes this team better immediately. anyone.
  3. would there have to be some kind of adjustment to the rules to allow ohtani to hit and pitch in the AS game?
  4. that's not all that uncommon. anyone who's ever watched a kung fu movie translated into english knows this.
  5. Why didn't you just catch it in your straw hat? slacker.
  6. I disagree. Making the playoffs is not the only measure of success, and its contingent on many things going right. but your position still seems to ignore the talent assembled. Did the GM get the necessary talent to compete? That's not on the manager, nor can the manager make the Johnny Giavotellas of the league suddenly turn into Ryne Sandburg. There's also the issue of injuries. The starting pitching for this team in the last 8 years has had about a gazillion TJ surgeries. That's not something the manager or anyone else could have controlled. It make be simplistic to say so, but I doubt any team could have survived the devastation our starters have gone through. Not even Maddon or Francona, the managing messiahs of aw.com, could have made this team more successful while dealing with those kinds of huge setbacks. I'm glad we've had Sosh for the best run in team history and that we were all here to see it. I honestly don't care if he stays or goes next year. Maybe it's time for a new leader, but not a single one of us here can adequately measure his value to the team. Some of you are going to be sorely disappointed when you find that the next manager is another Dave Garcia type.
  7. so much negativity here. you know what this thread needs?
  8. can we include an honest evaluation of the talent pool when we make statements like this? we haven't missed the playoffs simply because of the manager.
  9. holland america is a terrific line. we took an alaska cruise with them and were treated great. would sail with them again any time. also did the same cruise with celebrity cruises. they were also good but not quite as excellent as holland america. we did a cruise two summers ago to the carribbevn (falmouth, jamaica, cozumel, and the cayman islands). it was very family friendly and we had terrific service all the way around. i think we were on royal caribbean. would recommend highly. would also strongly suggest you send them in the fall or winter unless they're really big fans of humidity. we went in june and the humidity was stupefying. enjoyed sitting on our balcony but couldn't stay as long as we wanted because it was so stinking hot.
  10. "Even the fog can't stop him!" well, you know you've got a hell of a horse if he can't be slowed down by . . . fog.
  11. i had rehearsal with my men's chorus tonight. sounds like i fared a lot better than the rest of you.
  12. i'm telling ya, it's gonna be all about Quip.
  13. he's got to be kicking himself for that bogey.
  14. wait, so that WASN'T some kind of parody? yowza.
  15. ya know, that's always the last place i look. you'd think i/we would know by now.
  16. Ah bummer. In 2006 or so my singing group filmed a Christmas tv show and Joe was one of the actors on it. Didn’t really get to interact with him off camera but heard lots of good things about him from others who did.
  17. That'd be lovely to use during lunch recess. Do they have them for amazon prime?
